I bought this to use with my breadmaker, as it was suggested that I get a powdered buttermilk so that it can store longer. Now I use it for all kinds of recipes! I only wish it had more of a conversion chart; the only conversion it offers is to make a glass of buttermilk, or something of that size.
Works perfectly for baking

I hate buying dairy products like this because I only ever need a few tablespoons for recipes and the rest always goes bad. I bought this buttermilk to start using in my "mug bread" recipe. I love how convenient it is and how I'm able to have bread anytime without worrying whether or not I have buttermilk. I'm sure I will find other uses for it soon.
I also started making mug bread with this buttermilk and with Hoosier Hill powdered eggs. So now I can just use dry ingredients and some water and have bread in 60 seconds. My goal is to perfect this recipe for use over an alcohol stove for backpacking. My mouth waters at the thought of fresh baked bread while on the trail.

So really good. I add it to my baked goods, as bread YUMMY! I use it for sauces & dressings & it's part of our hurricane prep kit. Love this brand & very tangy REAL buttermilk as a-posed to milk + vinegar, yuch!. How very cool. Add it to stews, stroganoff, pasta sauces, eggs, frittatas, omelets, you are limited only by your imagination. It makes a terrific "secret ingredient" for many of my artisanal breads. I use it to stuff my foccacia, along w/ asiago, calabatta, good pepperoni 7 fresh garlic & rosemary. Really yummy w/ a salad. Very good & no waste!
love it, works perfectly

love it, works perfectly. i never have to worry about buttermilk going bad. i only keep it around for recipes like banana bread. it works perfectly. i mix 2.5 teaspoons with 1/4 cup of water and presto. perfect banana bread.
Saves Time, Money, and Guilt and throwing out unused store-bought buttermilk!

I decided to try powdered buttermilk, after repeatedly buying a quart of buttermilk for a recipe that calls for 1 cup, feeling guilty about the left over buttermilk wasting time trying to think of another use for it, and then pouring it down the drain several weeks later. Or going to the store and returning hours later to discover that I forgot to buy the buttermilk in the first place. I expect this to save time, money, and guilt in the long run.
I've been using it mainly for biscuits and waffles and haven't noticed any appreciable difference in taste. It's been great being able to simply open the cabinet and add the powder whenever I need it. In fact, I find myself making more things that call for buttermilk, and I'm nowhere near putting a dent in this giant container! I highly recommend it ïŠ
As another review pointed out, it's completely ridiculous to show the ratio for making 1 gallon of buttermilk on the instructions (3 cups powder + 3.75 quarts water = 1 gallon liquid buttermilk). Who's making a gallon of buttermilk, and for what?! I've found adding between 3 to 4 tablespoons powder to 1 cup water works well.
