Make a LOT of tea/hot water
Zippety Doo Dah✓ Verified Purchase•October 26, 2023
I've used this huge teapot daily for about three weeks. I make a whole day's worth of tea every day with one boil. I recommend it for making a gallon of hot water easily. The manufacturer did put a sticker with Thai writing on the side that had to be removed with mineral spirits but a little elbow grease is a small price to pay for this much utility.
It is big!

I got this teakettle to leave on the stove to help the humidity in the house during the winter. It works great for that, or, I imagine, if you drink a lot of tea. It seems sturdy, and makes a whole lot of boiling water if you need it.
Larger than you expect, well made

I already had a 5.25Q Lindy's kettle, and it simply wasn't big enough to brew two large pots of tea without filling it dangerously full. I came close to ordering the Lindy's 7Q, but went with the Zebra 7.5L instead. I've been happy with Zebra spoons in the past, and figured if I have two giant kettles, why not get a different look than the Lindy's.
I am SO GLAD I got the Zebra, reasons why:
1. Capacity. The real capacity of this Kettle a HUGE 9L, it can be safely filled to the Max line with 7.5L. That's quite different from the Lindy's where a 5.25Q Kettle can really only be used to boil around 4Q of water. You can really boil around 2 gallons of water in this Zebra 7.5L kettle! I could easily brew over 3 pots of tea with this new Zebra kettle. Now I can use the extra boiling water to pre-heat tea pots/cups.
2. Handle safety. The Lindy's handle gets HOT, perhaps because the Zebra is so much wider, or perhaps because of the less rounded bottom design. But it's definitely more comfortable.
3. Handle shape. The Lindy's handle is at the top only, but when pouring you normally shift your handle towards the back, where unfortunately it's just bare metal. On the Zebra the handle covers part of the back. This is particularly important on the Zebra because a full pot is CRAZY HEAVY. Heavy enough that you may need to use two hands to pour.
4. Quality. The Zebra feels more refined. It's subtle, but the Lindy's feels more carefully crafted. I do like the durable old fashioned feel of the Lindy's, but the Zebra seems better put together.
5. Whistle. The Lindy's has no whistle. The Zebra has an amusing whistle that pulses as you pour, and as the spout cap burps steam. Lindy's has nothing. I'm usually in the room, so this isn't very important to me..... but long ago I did destroy a kettle I left on the stove, it had no whistle, boiled dry when I got distracted and forgot. So good feature. If you don't want the whistle sound, you can leave the spout cap open allowing steam to escape instead of blowing through the whistle in the main cover.
Also, the Zebra is made in Thailand, came in a nice box, so it would be suitable as a gift.
You can't see it in the pictures, but there is a strainer on the spout, it's really too crude to hold back anything but large tea leaves, so I don't know what it's for. Perhaps reinforcement? I'd rather it wasn't there so I could run a brush through the spout if I ever use the pot for something besides water.
Only real negative is there is a sticker with black and white Thai lettering on the kettle that did not peel off cleanly, I had to warm up the pot, and then it left a lot of nasty glue residue that was difficult to clean off. The Zebra brand sticker peeled off fine, but that other sticker was very irritating to remove.

Large and great for group gatherings

We used this for a multiday group gathering of 18 people while we were camping. It holds a lot of water and was perfect for making instant coffee for our large group. It seems well made and I didn't experience any major issues with it. One thing to note is the spout can splash around when you pour so it is best to do it over some grass or a sink if possible so you don't make a mess.
Huge

This is a huge Tea Kettle and I think it will work well for me. I bought it to be able to heat water for dishes an bathing at our camp so I wanted something that would hold a lot of water. I've not used it yet, but it seems sturdy and well made.
Glad I got it.
