Effective but not cheap

We have a 30-pound mongrel, now 4-years old, who has many fears. Among other fears, he won't let us brush his teeth. These biscuits (chews) seem to work in the sense that they have eliminated the fishy odor that is characteristic of bad breath in dogs, as long as we give him one of the "chews" every evening. A dose of one every other evening did not appear to be effective.
The downside is that those things are not cheap, even in this most economical size when we buy enough to qualify for free shipping. Also they are not without calories, so we need to carefully watch what and how much we feed him. Would be better to brush his teeth with a good enzyme toothpaste, but since that isn't possible, these chews appear to be a good alternative.
Incidentally, the dog loves these things. He is a chewer: bones, his chew rope, sticks, plastic strapping from a package, etc., but he doesn't chew any of these other things very long. The brushing chew he really enjoys, and I think he is spending more time chewing it now then he did originally, when he would just crush it into pieces before swallowing.

Better than regular Milk Bones - keeps dogs teeth clean too.

I can never find the larger size in the stores so I went online and walah Amazon carried it. These are so much better than regular milk-bones for my golden retriever. The dog has cleaner teeth and its easier for him to chew compared to the regular milk bones. Bonus its half the calories than regular milk-bones. These dental bones are as effective as brushing his teeth twice a week in reducing tartar buildup compared to wrestling matches in cleaning his teeth for he doesn't like it. The twisted design of the treats and numerous nubs and ridges help clean tarter from hard-to-reach places. Our dog likes to chew these on the porch 1/2 way and leaves the other half for later. We've been told some dental chews can cause vomiting and diarrhea or obstruction in the gut. Our dog hasn't had any problems in digesting them and will change review if he develops any of the symptoms.
Best Dental Chew for Little Dogs

I have a 7 lb Yorkshire terrier mix. Like many little dogs, she has way too much personality and is a bit of a diva. She turns her nose up regularly at gourmet dog treats and will even decline table scraps. She has never, however, turned down a Milk-Bone Brushing Chew. We are going on 3 years with this product and she is still as excited to get her brushing bone today as she was when we first introduced them years ago.
These are well-sized for a small dog and though the average time it takes her to get through a chew has decreased dramatically, from around 20 minutes to maybe 3, I do believe that the nubs and grooves help her maintain dental health. Brushing her teeth his like trying to wrestle a tiny alligator and (don't judge me) I have given up. She gets a thorough annual dental cleaning at the vet and always gets a clean bill of health.
We have tried the Milk-Bone Brushing Chews Fresh Breath Dog Treats (1 Pack), 22 oz , Mini and, while she likes these too, there was no noticeable improvement in her breath to justify the price premium. When we first started dental chews, we used the PEDIGREE DENTASTIX Toy/Small Dog Chew Treats, Original, 84 Treats . Even though these typically offer a lower price per chew, I think that the Milk-Bone variety does a better job with teeth cleaning. The X-shape of the Pedigree treat is too large to really get into the grooves between a small dog's teeth.

A good treat with some dental benefits

If my dog could give this review he would give a 10 out of 10. I like the fact that he gets some dental benefits and also gets a treat.
These needed to serve multiple purposes and get an A+ in all areas by me and my dogs

These treats/bones/chewies have multi-purposes for my dogs and they fill them all. I use them as a treat when leaving our home. It helped one dog that feared being left behind turn into a "oh, you're leaving? Cool, where's my treat". The fact they are chewie and take awhile helps dogs relieve stress. Next they help with cleaning teeth, and they do the job slowly but surely with repeated use. Also they seem to be highly digestible and never caused stomach problems. Amazon sells them in high quantity boxes and at a great price. I order and get them in quickly and have options for prime shipping. All around these have been great for my needs and mist importantly for my dogs. I tried this quantity first and moved up to the much bigger boxes. So this is a good start box, travel box, etc. I use one or two per day total per dog. Love them. Highly recommend.
