but I'm glad I did

The Slotdog is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever purchased, but I'm glad I did. I bought this as a gift but then I couldn't wait to try it and ended up giving it early so we could test it out! I love the crunchy bits of hotdogs, and this product ensures that my hotdogs are maximally crunchy. It is easy to use, easy to use (just pop in the dishwasher) and makes hotdogs a little bit more awesome.

My uncle would spiral cut hot dogs by hand. This works great and is much easier/safer/faster than cutting by hand. Works really well and cuts down on overburning. it prevents the entire dog from being charred. The outer nubs can get charred but the inside, so far, has always been great. Had an issue with pieces of one particular brand getting stuck in the teeth. Easy to pick those out. Great item.

Honeslty, its a fun thing to have, sorta of a conversation piece. But only for a small cookout. Not going to sit there and do 80 hotdogs. If its well cooked dogs you want then this is for you.
The only con is, serve it right away. The cold hotdogs, the dimond tips that the cut makes turns rubberish almost making it like beef jerky. So don't let it sit for too long.
I also see the low stars saying the same thing over and over how it crushes it or too hard or even using it on sausages or other types. IT CLEARLY SAY ONLY FOR HOTDOGS. If you see the majority of the comments saying it works then you are doing something wrong. Its a side to side motion to cut into it, with ease and gentle.

This is simply a fabulous tool for the BBQ. These kind of things used to be for the Pros only, but not anymore. Push this rather large slotter down
on your favorite skinless hotdog, throw it on the grill, and in a minute or two the dog will puff up ready for the bun. Fill the slots with you favorite fixin's and enjoy. You've never seen a better looking Double Crossed Dog on a bun.

yes it works. it's pretty cool but not easily cleaned. i use it in bunches, prepping a bunch of dogs in a ziplock, then to the sink with a brush to try to get all the squished wiener pieces out of the hundreds of crevases. it's a booger, but i love it.
