Great to be able to see when you weld!
riverwalker✓ Verified Purchase•July 2, 2023
Bought this because I could not see out of the harbor freight helmet I have when MIG welding. The two ranges of 4-9 and 9-13 are great. I use the 4-9 for MIG and set about 8. Wow, nice to be able to see what your welding! The grind setting is a nice feature tell you forget to set back to weld and flash yourself. I think I prefer to leave it on weld and grab a facesheild. I did find that unless it is heavy grinding you can just leave on weld setting and grind. I have a pretty big head (7 1//4 or so) and the headgear works for me. The large viewing area is nice when you have to deal with trifocals. I think I'll drill one more small hole in face mask so I can tilt it further down for my trifocals. It's not rated for overhead and may not be great for a professional, but for the average guy welding in his shop or garage it's a great hood.
Really improved visibility and starting weld at proper location

I only weld periodically and am not a professional welder. I purchased this hood after reading some instructional videos on welding. The auto darkening feature works great and the option to adjust the darkness has greatly improved my visibility with varying amperage rates. Being able to see exactly where to start and not having to shift position to lower the hood has also been a tremendous help. It was easy to assemble and I am very pleased with its operation. My welding improved significantly when I switched from the fixed lens and drop down hood to the auto darkening hood. Very happy with the purchase. Hope the batteries hold up with my intermittent usage.
Great helmet!

Day 1 review:
This thing is amazing. I was using a well-loved 2nd hand helmet with a very small lens (probably 1"x3" or 1.5"x3.5"), so I would always have to move my head and/or bend my neck sharply depending on what I was doing. The lens on the Antra is huge! I almost feel like I'm wearing my sunglasses because of the wide viewing angle.
The grind mode is extremely helpful, too. Don't even need to take off the helmet, which is even more convenient than I was expecting. Protip: Don't forget to change it back to weld mode when you're done! Even at shade 5, the arc is absolutely blinding. I accidentally arc flashed myself twice because I'm not used to being able to use the mask for grinding and welding. Not going to dock any points because of user error. Hopefully I won't make that mistake again.
The mask comes with 5 exterior lens protectors and 1 interior, but I went ahead and ordered another set (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CILLEV8/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1) so I'd have them on hand since this brand isn't sold locally.
The solar charging is very helpful, but moreso, the batteries are replaceable when they finally give out.
Antra has a sticker inside the helmet giving you both part numbers and amazon stock numbers for replacement parts.
It may be made in china, but the build quality seems acceptable so far. The mask is surprisingly thin and the plastic bends very easily, but while welding/grinding, it does a very good job protecting my face. I haven't seen any signs of damage from heat or molten metal, but I did get a few light scratches on the lens protector when I was wiping off metal shavings.
There really isn't much more I can say at this point, but I will try to update my review after using it for a little while.
Update: After using the helmet a few weeks, I still highly recommend it. Yes, it may feel flimsy, but is it very good at protecting my face. Even though it isn't rated for overhead welding, I had to do an overhead weld or 2 with it and there are no burnt/melted spots on it at all. Lots of grinding and welding as well...you can hardly tell it's been used, except for the lens. There's a few scratches from absentmindedly wiping something off with my gloves.
It might be a chinese off-brand, but it is definitely worth the money! Added a few pictures, too.

They lose a star for shipping with dead batteries.
Smedlow✓ Verified Purchase•May 2, 2023
I love the field of vision. Most complains have been about the headgear, but the one they shipped it with is OK. If you read the assembly instructions, its not difficult to install. No recommendations on adjustment-sort of trial and error. So why is it only 4 star review? They shipped it with dead batteries. Lucky I had a pair laying around that work. Now the battery test and auto darkening function properly. They shipped with a CR2032 which is not rechargeable through the solar panel because it is not a rechargeable battery. An ML 2032, VL 2032 or LIR 2032 are rechargeable and those should be shipped with it in my opinion.
Be prepared to wait
