Best tasting Yogurt Starter Culture I've Found - Can be Used For (at least) for a 2nd Generation
Andys✓ Verified Purchase•July 15, 2017
Best tasting Yogurt Starter Culture I've found so far. I have been able to generate a second generation by freezing a half-dozen 2 tablespoon size samples from the initial batch in the freezer in small zip-lock bags -- which makes it extremely economical.
I haven't attempted a third generation, but the cost is so low with the second generation that I haven't bothered. (I've also read that yogurt cultures can get "tired" but I don't know if that's true.)

Great starter in my Instant Pot

I bought this starter after seeing it mentioned in our Instant Pot community facebook page. I have made several different style yogurts in my Instant Pot but this one is so far my favorite. Sweet, mild and incredibly smooth, especially after straining. :) Love it on top of steel cut oats in the morning.
Easy, peasy.

I have to admit, I didn't follow the directions. I just stirred the starter in with half and half and set the yogurt in the yogurt machine. I've made 4-5 batches so far and each one has turned out perfectly.
Edit - I've reordered this starter three times. That's about 30 batches of yogurt. I always have a batch in the fridge. Reading through the reviews right now, I see several people mention this yogurt is runny. I'd like to suggest a little more cooking time. My yogurt machine says 12 hours. Occasionally, when the 12 hours is up my yogurt still looks runny. I leave it another hour or two and it firms up just fine.
I'd like to point out that I don't do any of the pre cooking stuff - I just mix the starter right into half and half and close the lid of the yogurt maker. Done. Maybe using half and half makes yogurt easier?

I purchased an electric yogurt maker just so I could have balkan yogurt. This starter makes the most lucious yogurt I have eaten in ages. You rock makers of this starter. 100%
