Great starter still, worked flawlessly right from the first go, no leaks whatsoever. You will need a small pump to cool the steam, and probably some ice too, but I even managed to distill some essential oils, as you can see in the video - mind you, it doesn't come with that glass piece - I bought that separately. Given its size you probably won't be able to work with much more than a kilo (2 pounds) of plant material, which limits how much essential oil you can get in one go. Don't get me wrong, this pan is big, and the yield of essential oils is very low anyway. But it'll be great for making hydrosols and floral waters. So, if you want to test the waters before you commit to bigger units, this is excellent for the price!

I am a machinist and a welder, I work with quality parts all day long, this is JUNK! the bottom of the pot is not flat, the metal is so thin, I am worried if I try to make it flat, I may make a hole!, when any liquid starts to warm up, the pot shakes and rolls so bad on my stove top, I need to hold it tightly while distilling!the legs shown in the photo just under the chiller, are nothing like what is shown! I got 2 threaded rods, they were cut to different lengths, and the threads have burrs so they would not screw into the nut! the lid is the same size as the pot,not bad, but when you have to add the 1/2 inch seal, there is now no room for the lid to fit.i have to start the lid in one place, then pry the pot and seal away and press the lid in, repeat until i get a good seal I have emailed the seller about this item, he said he would send me some parts. still yet to show up after 6 weeks. the instructions that come with the item are just 3 photos, they do not tell you anything, but there are links to youtube, if you can figure out what link is for you, the YouTube videos tell you nothing to. the seller did include a full page asking for me to leave him 5 stars and he would give me 15% off the next item i buy from him.i would rather flush my money down the toilet then buy anything from him again! the still show up greasy dirty as anything, you think they may of washed it once before shipping it? the cooling unit is mounted on top of the lid, it gets very very hot, if you want to use it more then once a day you need to wait a long time for it to cool down! if I was to see this for sale in a big chain store, they would not sell it for more then $49.95, but the quality of this is so low, i doubt a store would even put it on there shelf. here is my email with the seller, I say I am missing parts, things are not right, and I am told to clean the item! thank you, I noticed in the videos, I did not get a steel plate that you put in the pot, I also did not get the mesh bag, is that not included in with my model? also, the 2 legs I got for my cooling unit are just 2 threaded rods, they are nothing like what was shown on amazon or in the videos, did the correct legs not get sent with my still? who ever cut the rods did not do a good job and the will not screw into the nuts welded on the cooling unit.

Product as described. Functions perfectly. The one caveat is that if the condensation pot is installedon top of the lid, it gets hot. I installed it away from the lid and supported it with a stick. Packed cloth between the pot lid and the condensation pot to thermally isolate it. Worked like a charm.

I was suspicious as to whether or not this product did, indeed, contain lead or not. So I purchased some lead test swabs on Amazon from 3M. As soon as they arrived I tested it, and sure enough, it contained lead. Any orange or red means lead. This item is not food safe.

At first it was a little confusing to setup, but it was a quick learning curve. Prepare yourself to go to the hardware store to get hoses and barb fittings. It's a bit fussy to get everything working perfectly, but the end results have been excellent.
