Easy to operate, no problem with understanding how to position a dusk to dawn sensor. The first two that I ordered worked grade until a rather bad thunder storm. One of them failed and I assumed the cause was RF in association with close lightning. I have ordered two more and will give an update in a few weeks. One is still operating flawlessly and I have good hope for the second pair.
The second pair arrived and after one day one of the new timers died. Now I have one out of four working. Should have paid closer attention to the reviews. I am just waiting for the 4th one to die. These are not water proof.
Last update: The vendor contacted me and made sure to have the item to read weather resistant rather than waterproof. Offered a full refund or replacement. This is a very good business response and I would most definately order from them again.

They work great - once you discover that the lights coming on are sometimes interpreted as the next day's dawn (daylight), and the controller turns the lights off. I can understand this for the dusk-to-dawn controller setting, but it is also doing it for my "Turn-on at dusk, run-for-8-hours" setting. Apparently, it is "Run-for-8-Hours, unless dawn comes earlier".
No problem, I just had to turn the sensor away from the lights, but keep it oriented so that it would see daylight. Before I did that, my setting resulted in flashing lights - on for ~10 seconds-then-off for ~10 seconds continuously.

Was hesitant to buy at first but they work really well even in shaded areas. Multiple choices as far as setting. easy to use. Depening on area of shade or sun they may come on at a little different time but not enough to make a big amount of difference. built well . work well outdoors even in the rain. Works great for my Christmas lights. would recommend to anybody. Has two outlets for an extra line on each.Do not understand any negative ratings. Liked so much I purchased and extra set afterwards

The turn on at dusk feature was why I purchased this item, however the lights turn on and then a few seconds later they turn off my guess is that since it has a light sensor in them and the lights turn on this item turns off. And then the sensor realizes it is afain dark so it turns on. I personally feel that once they turn on the timer should keep them on for X amount of specified hours! Very poor product and clearly doesn't function properly. Will be sending back tomorrow.

I gave this item 4 stars because of the customer service I received and because the units initially worked quite well until they were subject to a heavy rain. The description notes they are a "...weatherproof design and construction for outdoor applications", but they apparently are only reliable for damp weather. I called Instapark to determine if there may have been another reason for the failure and was told they were not intended for exceptionally wet conditions. They are sending me new units at no cost and I will try them in a sheltered outdoor location. Instapark said they will revise the product description.
