I think they're supposed to be disposable.

This is the 2nd ION speaker I've purchased. They're fun, right? The lights make it! The reason it's the 2nd one I've bought is that apparently they're disposable. The first purchase was the $40+ model. I bought it for a birthday party. It was a big hit. The lights were awesome and the sound wasn't bad. The next time I wanted to use it, it wouldn't charge. There was a problem with the port. The kids really enjoyed it, so I replaced it with the $20 version. The sound was not good, but the lights were still fun. I used it once. There's another birthday party tomorrow, so I took it out to charge. The charging port doesn't work. When I tried to plug it in, the connection disappeared inside somewhere. Sadly, there will be no Party Starter tomorrow. So this is a great idea in theory - but don't get too attached to it!

Stopped working after 3 months, Bluetooth stopped working and soon after that it wouldn't charge anymore. It's at a decent price but your taking your chances, I would spend a little more and get something better.

We had the previous version of this and loved it. It was one of this surprising products that was way more fun than expected. The sound was better than expected for the price and the light show proved to be a hit with the kiddos. So when that old one finally gave up the ghost (power button failed) we bought the new model. Sadly, This thing is junk.
The Bluetooth module is unreliable. When paired with Apple devices (phones, iPads or computer; it doesn't matter) it drops connection constantly, even when the devices are sitting still and placed mere inches from each other. It also does this weird thing where it makes the song speed up. It sounds like you're taking a record and making it spin fast. Further, it is not nearly as loud as the previous version.
Total fail here.

I love this speaker! Even with the lights going, this thing's battery lasted about 5 hours straight. Nice sound quality! The lights are very bright and they take a little getting used to, but once you do, they are a lot of fun! I defintitely recommend, especially given the low cost!
