While watching TV one late evening/early morning, the chime went off and when I looked, I saw my and my neighbor's mailboxes all opened. I immediately called PD and they were able to apprehend red-handed, two individuals with 'sacks of mail' going through the neighborhood. I'd say I got my money's worth on this simple-to-install device. Transmitter sticks inside mailbox door and the receiver plugs into an AC outlet. It beeps and a red LED lights up when activated. Volume is adjustable. Hope this helps.

I have only had this for one day.

Someone broke our previous mailbox (a large truck, tore it off the post, a "hit and run.") and before this happened, we had successfully been using the Mail Chime in it for several years. Although we replaced the mailbox with exactly the same brand mailbox, the Mail Chime no longer worked. I even bought a new one thinking the old one was damaged. Our mailbox is a bit oversized and is made of cast aluminum, and is on the street, making it a bit of a walk to retrieve the mail. As we have gotten older, it's less and less convenient to make useless trips to see if the mail has been delivered.

In reviewing the various options, I decided to purchase this device. The description did say that it worked on metal mailboxes. I liked the idea of the antenna that was outside of the box. With my husband in the house and me at the mailbox, we played around with various in-house locations and various antenna positions at the mailbox, finally finding one that was satisfactory. I didn't like the big garish stickers that came with the device, and which were supposed to be used to hide the antenna. Instead, I used some clear "alien tape" to cover the antenna and attach it to the mailbox. Our mailbox is black, and I intend to eventually cover the antenna with black electrician's tape.

The mail chime did go off today when the mail was delivered. Although there's no volume control, the device was loud enough to hear, and it does stop beeping after a while. The light (somewhat dim) does stay on until you press the little reset button. The reset button is somewhat sharp and uncomfortable to press. Assuming it continues to work, I'll try to find some type of soft "nubbin" to cover it with to make it more comfortable to press.

Overall, so far, so good. It does work.

I have a heavy aluminum mailbox so it took some doing but the problem I had is that my mailbox lit flops all the way down when opened and the jarring causes the battery to get dislodged... I ended up wrapping the battery in two faced tape and it has been working over a year...
No more stolen mail and useless trips to the mailbox... I love it....thank you...

It's works as discribed

I installed the mailbox sensor and am VERY pleased. Our mail delivery is at random times in the afternoon ... so I no longer need to walk out to see if we have mail! Easy to install. Distance to mailbox probably 150 feet. I have had 2 alerts that were in error ... probably because of wind and sensing the movement of my mailbox. I am VERY pleased!
