Perfect Guacamole Every Time You Open It
Beatlenik✓ Verified Purchase•March 12, 2018
Usually suspicious of most food storage and kitchen gadget claims, this Casabella Guac-Lock Container was purchased with a slight degree of trepidation even though most of the customer reviews praised it and the video demonstrated it easily enough. Sure enough though, after having filled it twice now full to the brim with the maximum dosage of freshly prepared guacamole, it has performed not only admirably but surprisingly surpassed all expectations. Really! Our first go-round lasted a full 5 days without so much as a tinge of browning avocado anywhere in the container. I fully expected a slight browning on the very top or in the creases at the edge of the silicone seal where it faithfully hugs the inner plastic container. Nope! On the last day, removed the top and ate up all the remainder with no sign of age. Second time through we purposefully left the last of it a full week. I don't believe we can make it last longer than we can refrain from eating simply because it is so fresh and delicious every time we open the container!
The push-up silicon seal that you leverage your guacamole up against the top is easy to push so be careful. The top of the container seals equally well, snug, but is easy to open as the latches keep the top securely in place and sealed perfectly. The top latch which secures the air hole gets snapped in last (removed first when opening) and there is literally no mess and no fuss using the Casabella Guac-Lock Container. It also cleans up extremely easy in mild soap and water (another beauty of silicone design). Easy to use, easy to operate, easy to assemble and disassemble, and easy to clean; and it works as advertised, maybe better; what more can you ask for a kitchen contraption?
If you love guacamole and hate the hassle of having to make small amounts to avoid waste and food loss, this Guac-Lock Container is just what you need. We have not one single complaint about any aspect of this product, in fact, find it highly praiseworthy. It is simply a terrific new "invention" for a specialty group of foodies. Guac On!

I love this thing and it works so well! I don't usually eat avocados because its so hard to get them ripe at the right time and my husband doesn't like them so I have to eat the whole thing once I cut it. I wanted to introduce avocados to my baby but again for all the reasons just stated I was having trouble getting the timing right (and thought I was going to have to eat a ton of leftover avocado everyday). I bought a bag of 5 smaller avocados on Saturday thinking they were ripe (novice here for all the reasons above). I cut one on Sunday to find it was not ripe enough. I left the 4 others out to finish ripening. On Tuesday they felt ready but I was not able to introduce to my son until the weekend. So I cut them and put into my guac-lock Tuesday morning hoping this contraption would work, and it DID!. When I opened it on Friday I still had green avocado. I resealed it and got out more on Saturday. I realized that I needed to take out a little bit more so I can flatten it out and reseal it better as I did have some browning on Saturday. Then I resealed and opened on Monday morning and still green! Its been almost a week and it still looks great.
What I have learned is that if you are going to reseal after the initial seal, its best if you take enough out that you can flatten it back to the top of the clear plastic. Then when you put the lid on and push it up, it gets rid of the air evenly and will seal better.
I will definitely be using this again in the future and buying a second one to give a friend who is going to love it.

This thing works! It actually took me a little while to learn how to use it optimally. If you are like me and only cut up one avocado at a time (I mash it up and spread it on my toast in the morning), and the amount is small enough that it leaves space for air to get in, it still works well and keeps the avocado fresh for at least several days, if not a week, with NO BROWNING! You just have to bring the avocado to the center (see my picture). I'd definitely recommend this!!
I also like the convenience of the serving tray

This container does exactly what it promises...keeps guacamole fresh and green...I actually left guac in the container for three weeks after using it the first time and discovered it in the back of the refrigerator....it was as fresh as the day I first served it. I am definitely sold on the value of this container. I also like the convenience of the serving tray...I use one of the sections for fresh salsa and the other three sections for chips.
Works Perfectly!

I love avocados, and hate having to throw them away when I've missed the window to eat them. I'm lazy and don't like to have to go to the grocery store every few days, so I usually buy those bags with about 6 small ones in them, and then wait for them to ripen. If I'm lucky, they don't all ripen at the same time so I can take my time eating them, but there are occasions when they're all ready at once and I either have to gorge on them or risk having them rot.
I read the reviews for this container and, despite some of the negative ones, I took a chance and bought both a standalone container and the tray/container set. (I figured the cost of the set was just a little bit more than the container itself, so why not?) I'm glad I did and couldn't be happier with the Guac-Lock!
I don't make guacamole, just plain avocado. On their own, I found that I can fit about 4 1/2 - 5 of the small avocados in one container, with the rest going in the second container if I don't eat it straight away. I try to get rid of as many air pockets as I can, and there's no browning, with the guac staying fresh for days. There are four pieces to the container, but I thought the instructions were perfectly clear and the container was easy to "operate," wash, and store.
It may seem a little silly to get this excited about a kitchen gadget, but this one's a bit of a game-changer for me. And the cost is certainly worth it so there's no more stressing about wasting lovely avos. I feel as if I want to go preach about it to everyone else I know who eats avocados!
