Purchased these for wine making in the fall. They appear to be just what I needed. I find the glass to be fairly substantial. The lids are plastic and I hope that by hand-washing they will last a long time.

Perfect size for making my Kombucha tea.
4 Stars only because I'm not fermenting

I bought the 4 quart,1 gallon, jar. It Came packed end to end with bubble around it. The jar itself is made of decently not thin/not thick glass, it feels like the thickness of a drinking glass. And I wouldn't ferment anything in it because it isn't tempered. The opening is wide and the lid is very thin plastic with what feels like a thin piece of silicon. Like someone stretched a coke lid very tightly. The jar has a few minor scratches and a couple of air bubbles. Another reason fermenting isn't ideal because the can burst. I used mine as a cookie jar, which is perfect.
