Purchased two of these a month or two ago for family members specifically for a three-week trip to Africa, since we had baggage limitations (soft-sided duffels wiith weight restrictions) due to flights in single-engined bush aircraft.

So, after a bunch of flight segment on everything from Cessna Caravans to A380s, and numerous trips in Land Rovers and everything else, the bags look great. The stitching and hardware show no wear, and they look new. All we did was ensure the straps were secured for flights so that they wouldn't get caught in conveyer belts.

Overall, couldn't be more pleased - excellent bags at a great price. We have the navy and grey, both look great!

UPDATE: After my initial rating of 4 stars I feel it would be important to include the customer service that I received, as a portion of the rating. After writing my initial review, I was contacted by this company inquiring more about the issues I was having. I explained that the zipper issue happened twice but I was able to release it both times. They were extremely helpful in offering me support and ensuring me that if I had any more issues of the same or different nature, to exchange the bag for a new one. With this fantastic customer support I have changed my review from a 4 start to a 5 star review.

This canvas bag is almost perfect except for one thing....one of the zippers on the outside of the bag. The pocket material tends to get zipped into the zipper making it very difficult to 1. move the zipper and 2. get the material out of the zipper. I have not had any issue with any of the other zippers on the bag. This bag holds so much inside and the shoulder strap is sturdy enough to hold it all. The strap feels comfortable on the shoulder and it doesn't give me the feeling that the bag is going to break loose at any moment. All-in-all, I would definitely recommend this bag to someone looking for a travel bag for a weekend or even a little longer.

QUALITY: The canvas material is nice and thick and feels very durable to the touch. The leather also feels high quality. Overall I'm very impressed. It has a good weight to it too. When you pick it up it has some heft and feels sturdy without being bulky.

CONCERNS: I'm a tad worried that the zipper won't hold out, as I've seen several reviews that say their zipper broke. It doesn't feel incredibly robust, so I find myself being a little gentle when opening and closing the bag.

SIZE: It's a very generously sized bag. It's a bit bigger than I was imagining in my head, but it will be good for longer trips. It may be a too large for a weekend, unless of course you like to carry a lot of stuff, and it's certainly too big for an overnight trip. I don't see this being an under-the-seat bag on a plane without having absolutely no leg room. You certainly wouldn't get away with carrying it on as a free of charge "personal item." It's way too big for that.

I wanted a casual but yet stylish travel bag and this has worked out very well. It can accommodate a trip from 2-3 days to probably one week depending upon your packing needs. The construction so far has been solid through 3 road trips. The canvas is durable but not stiff and the zippers have held up well to stuffing the bag. The leather trims are a nice touch and give it a finished look. Basicaly this bag provides an upgraded look over a regular travel duffle and is more stylish than just a roller bag. I'm very pleased with the purchase and have since purchased the smaller weekend bag (with integrated shoe compartment).

This bag is PERFECT for my travel needs. About once a month, I travel and have to stay in a hotel for 4 nights. I can easily pack what I need in this bag.

The benefits to having this kind of bag versus a roller bag are
1. If you are traveling on a smaller jet, they often make you check your roller bag because of the size of the Overhead Compartments. This bag fits fine in smaller jets. Often times, even on a regular jet, they will force passengers in the last zones on a full flight to check their roller bags because there is simply no more room. They will let you bring this one on though because it's not obnoxiously large like a roller bag.

2. I will typically put on my backpack which has my laptop, etc. and then throw this bag over my shoulder, literally walking through the airport hands free. (Also a benefit when you don't have to place any bags on a nasty airport bathroom floor)

The material is very durable and the shoulder strap and handles seem to be strong. Here is my only complaint. The clamps on the shoulder strap are too weak. One of mine broke on the second trip. Simple fix with some hardware I got at a big box hardware retail store, but still a pain. The manufacturer used the same clamps to "downsize the bag" as they did to attach the shoulder straps and it was just not a good call. The other side of my shoulder strap clamp started opening up even before it broke off.

Still...I LOVE this bag. You may just need to make the modifications to make it perfect.
