THE ADAPTER DIDN'T RUN THE TAPE RECORDER. I PLAN TO RETURN IT BUT AM PRESSED FOR TIME THESE DAYS. I DON'T KNOW IF BATTERIES WILL RUN THE RECORDER BUT I PREFER THE ADAPTER ANYWAY.

Does not record voices well

I attempted to use this to record a class I was giving twice. Both times I stood right next to the recorder (it was on a table that was about waist high) and I spoke at a louder than usual volume. There were 6 other people in the fairly small room with me during the recording. During playback you can barely hear my voice over this loud noise of the tape turning in the recorder and you cannot hear the students voices at all. I imagine this is because the microphone is right next to where the tape is. The sole purpose of purchasing this was to record the classes so it was a complete waste of money for me.

This recorder replays already recorded tapes fine. When you try to record, it makes loud grinding noises. That noise is then are on your newly recorded tape. I tried to use this for a lecture I attended. I could not hear anything over the grinding sound.
