Great product, excellent customer support
AUApril 29, 2017
I purchased this item right before I had to leave for a trip. The water valve lever worked well and I had no problems connecting it to my Z-Wave-based home automation system.

The customer service was incredible. I discovered I had an issue with the mount so I sent an email to their support email (their instructions also say that you should do this if the given mount (which would fit several valve sizes) does not fit. They overnighted two different mounts to me (they didn't appear in the instruction manuals, but were made well and fit the valve well) and I installed it the day I was leaving without any issues. They were extremely responsive, friendly, and sent pictures on how to install the mounts.
Not enough torque to turn 1" pipe valve
GaryJanuary 24, 2017
Excellent idea, good attachment bracket, BUT: the motor doesn't provide enough torque to turn 1" valve... Unfortunately, I have to return. PLEASE MAKE A STRONGER VERSION!
Larger assembly pictures would help too.
The mounting system may have made the difference

This valve controller worked for me. I had tried a less expensive unit that visually appear to be the same as this item, as far as the motor goes. They both appear to have the same 1 amp motor, clutch release and motor housing. The difference must have been the mounting system. The less expensive unit had a mount system that allowed the unit to twist slightly. The other unit's gears would jump/slip. You could hear it and see the motor housing jerk. With this unit, the mounting system did not allow any movement of the motor. While this unit does not close the valve to the point that it touches the stop block on the valve, it does go 99.44% of the way.

I pair this will the SmartThing hub. The hub did identify it as a water valve and correctly shows the status as open or closed.
Great concept ... but the weak motor kills the deal

This product COULD have been easily 5 stars... but sadly they stopped short of being great. Another 10bucks worth of a stronger motor/gear-box.
Overall - great product idea, the Z-Wave integration was easy, fast and without complications (not the norm!).
So, what's wrong? The motor is dismally weak. I mean: really really weak. Other reviewers are spot on (refer to "Doggie Bear "Opie"" and the torque wrench measurements)
Well, in my case, it did indeed not work (see video of the puny motor mightily struggling to close the valve.. until it got stuck in a whiney-never-ending motion). Oh, and the packaging did not include the "Lever Pins" so I had to improvise.
Another $100 -one plumber visit later- installing a new Home Depot valve, and it's finally working.
Please, if you DO consider purchasing this one here, DO test if you can move your existing lever with utmost ease, using your pinky, all the way. IF NOT, then buy another product or call the plumber...
Awesome. Highly Recommend.

After having a supply line under the kitchen sink burst we decided to install these. We bought 2 units one for each of our homes. The disconnect on one home was a perfect fit and I was able to install it with no problem. The only issue I had there was working in a confined space. In the other home I had to install a different type of disconnect, which was no problem since the house is plumbed with PEX. I approached this install a bit differently. I plumbed the shutoff valve in one piece and attached the EcoNet to the disconnect before I spliced it in to the main water line. Works like a dream!

We have a Vera edge controllers and it manages the EcoNet just. Fine. It took a couple of minutes to learn that we had to quickly push the button on the EcoNet 4 times when paring. The instructions said 3 or 4 and we were only doing it 3 times. When we pushed it 4 times, Vera immediately recognized it. Now we have Vera configured so that whenever we go to Away mode, the water is shut off automatically. The next step is start adding some Z-Wave leak detectors so that they can disconnect the water at night if a leak is detected.
