Needle frustrating to use, lace is good quality
tekn0lust✓ Verified Purchase•April 30, 2018
The FID(needle) does not grip the lace tightly enough to lace a glove w small holes(even when trimming the ends as directed). I had to give up on the needle and just ended up using a piece of wire to make an impromptu threader. The lace is nice and strong, even about 1/8" wider than what I replaced so quality is good.
It is great quality, easy to work with

This lacing leather is outstanding --I had to take out all the other, stiff lace that I had previously done and replace it with this. It is great quality, easy to work with. The metal tool also works better --once you realize that you literally screw it on to the leather lace (after you cut a narrow bit at the top). A nice set of instructions accompanies the kit. I just ordered a second set -- we are bringing gloves new life with new string and some lanolin.
Got the job done, superior to the original lace on the glove by far

My son has a fairly new Easton youth glove -- while at a throwing velocity camp the lace holding the pocket of the glove broke in three places. I ordered this kit to repair the glove. This lace is an order of magnitude better than the original lace on the glove. It's about 50% thicker, more pliable, just a good quality leather. The color match to the original red lace on his glove is close enough that you wouldn't know anything was done to the glove. It also comes with instructions on how to get the leather lace onto the awl needle (the so-so needle is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars), and the instructions make the helpful recommendation to put in the new lace as you're removing the old lace.
Overall, this got the job done with a much higher quality lace than the original, with just a little initial frustration at getting the lace to stay on the needle until I figured it out ((basically need to trim down the thickness of the end of the lace to nearly exactly fit the diameter of the threaded hole)

Product is great. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because I wish the hook that came with it would have been, more of a hook to grab the lace. I had to take a paperclip make a needle per say and pull the lace through with a pair of pliers. The hook is good to open up and find the path of the lace. Other than that is worked great and I was able to fix my son's glove. I'll post photos later.
New life to an old glove

The burgundy color worked wonderfully for my 1960 baseball glove. The color was a good match after conditioning the glove. The needle tool made it easy to restring and I had plenty of length.
