Smells nice Outside of the package but two of my packages had some sort of brown substance on the outside of them that could only be described as fecal matter... tbh i had no way of testing exactly what it was but I did take some photos... looks like this product is outsourced from overseas which may be the cause.. all I know is I wasn't too happy about it..

In general, I'm a fan of DampRid products as they are extremely effective if removing moisture. After receiving this I was extremely careful when opening to avoid damaging the product. I placed one in the utility room (working perfectly) and one in a closet. After a few days I went to retrieve my favorite pair of shoes (brown leather wing tips) to discover one shoe drenched with moisture. The DampRid was leaking directly onto the shoe. It will not dry like a normal water stain; I presume there is some chemical agent present. I'm now in for a costly cleaning that may or may not rectify the stain. Urgh.

This STICKY liquid leaked out on my favorite hiking boots, clothes, air filters & other items in my closet! I STILL can't get this sticky liquid out of my boots, after several attempts at washing them out. Will take them to a shoe shop to see if they can do better. I LOVE the containers that sit on the floor, but I'll NEVER use the hanging ones again. (The backpack didn't matter, I just chucked it...& other covers & clothing I washed...but the boots were costly!)

I have been using these in my basement for the past 2 years. I am amazed at how well they work. I do not have a very damp basement, but it's still a concrete basement and can get that basementy smell. No More Smell - they last longer than 60 days, I hang 3 at a time and replace when the water bag is full. I do this all year round and it saves $$ from leaving a dehumidifier running all year. Buying on amazon is a good $$ saver too.

These are wonderful! We are in south Louisiana --- damp anyway, but we have (as many folks have) been flooding. These work. Hang them up & let them do their job. The moisture is contained in a little plastic bag at the bottom: The crystals & the bag are perfectly coordinated, so there is no worry (we have found) about the water running over the top of the plastic bag. So, there's no mess at all with these. It's easy to see what's happening --- handy & simple to use. Highly recommend!
