Good axe
One sweet tool!
P. PrinceSeptember 11, 2017
This axe has one sweet piece of steel. The heft is well suited to the handle length and the combination makes for a very formidable tool. Worked my way through a dozen+ 10 inch diameter trees this evening and am extremely pleased with this axe. The geometry of the edge is spot on with deep bites and minimal glancing. Its a real pleasure to use and it brings a smile to my face to see how quickly it works through trees. When I returned home the edge was still sharp with no nicks. As a test I took stone to it and with a few strokes it was as keen as new. This edge will do major damage to anything it strikes so pay attention to what you are doing with it. Mistakes will be costly!
As a volunteer I clear trail in Wilderness for the forest service and need a tool that performs with the best of them as when we are in the field I cut trees all day long for days on end. Your tool is your best friend and you treat it as such! This axe is a pleasure to use and I am proud to own it. The boys with the cross cut saws better get their files out cause a new sheriff is in town!
While not polished and pretty, it will get the job done cleanly
JakeJuly 5, 2017
The reviews don't do the axe (or the company) justice. While not polished and pretty, it will get the job done cleanly, relatively cheaply and, with pleasure. While it is not my current favorite axe in my collection, I have a feeling I am going to grow to absolutely cherish this axe. I will say, however, the sheath rivets hit the blade, denting the edge, so the sheath could be better made.
It does a nice job with quartering the wood
Jacob C.June 17, 2017
It has held up well to felling the plethora of dead standing pines I have around. It does a nice job with quartering the wood, and is easy to remove from the pitch filled wood. It came shaving sharp but with relatively deep grind marks in the bevel, after a few minutes on a stone it had a mirror bevel and popped hairs with ease.
