A VERY STURDY AND DURABLE DAYPACK.
Franz ✓ Verified Purchase•December 11, 2017
THIS IS A VERY STURDY AND DURABLE DAYPACK. This is my 2nd purchase for this pack. I have been using the first one for the better part of 2 years now and no stitchings or zipper has broken or torn down from me. With this 2nd purchase, I was afraid there would be a deterioration in manufacturing quality after 2 years (as sometimes happen with manufacturers when they switch tooling or factories), and I was delighted to find out it has retained every good points as the older one. This is quite an accomplishment for SOG since I use this everyday for work (as a primary or secondary bag). The stitchings are stellar, and I tell you, this pack is built like a tank! The dimensions provided are true to size, and as I used it almost on a daily basis, there are times I wished it was just a tad bigger. Ample internal and external pockets are provided with durable zippers. Unzipped open pockets are also amply provided, with a key-hook internally. There is a padded section inside for a 6" tablet. If you are looking for an EDC pack, you will never go wrong with this one for lasting value.

Reliable Everyday Pack

I purchased one of these backpacks for myself as a bag to keep in the car with the stuff I'm usually in need of (bug spray, sunscreen, first aid kit, etc). Quickly learned I can throw far more in the bag than I initially wanted to use it for, The backpack has plenty of compartments and attachments to keep all your items organized in. I added a Condor Pocket Pouch/US Patch (Olive Drab, 7.25 x 5-Inch) to carry nail clippers, a flashlight, and a few pens, and it works well with this back. Any molle attachment should do just fine, really.
The hydration bladder pocket works as advertised, though there's not a real hose clamp on the shoulder straps to keep the hose in place. You can make it work with the existing straps, or add your own hose holder easily enough. I do like having the option to take the hose out either the left or right side.
One of the plus sides to all the molle and buckle straps is you can add on to this backpack easily. As mentioned earlier, I put a small pack on the front, but you could easily strap a sleeping bag or bed roll on in several orientations.
The bag has held up to being thrown around the car, in the woods, around the house, and general use. Zippers seem pretty solid, the backpack material hasn't shown any tears or defects.
Ended up ordering another one for my wife to use around town this summer with the kids and on vacation.

Sog Ninja Backpack, olive drab green. My honest full review after 2 hours of packing followed by 6 hours of running/rucking. A big reminder to whoever reading this, this is a day pack; meaning it is only 1475 ci/ 24.2 L. If packed right you could make this a weekend bag for you preppers out there.
We'll start out with the material and construction. Made out of poly and canvas in a basket weave throughout the exterior and a plane poly fabric lining the interior. There's mesh lining long the straps and around the neck and three areas on the back. The mesh hides a very thick piece padding (even in the straps) that make this indisputably the most comfortable pack that I have ever used and on top of that the wide separation of the back padding allows for great airflow without sacrificing comfort and drenching the pack in sweat.
The 4 compartments (excluding the bottle pocket) are your standard config of a main for the largest compartment featuring a hydration pocket (nice touch with a hook loop strap to hold the hydration pack upright) and two mesh zippered pouches on the inside. The secondary compartment, or better known as the accessories compartment due to the 5 small compartments and other features for lots of options. The zippers aren't YKK but still do the job, they do get a little hung up around the corners but that's probably because it's still new. I really like the idea of having a hook loop flap for the hydration tube but I've noticed they don't stick closed around the tube like i'd like. Back to the zippers, they are finished with a large SOG logo fob for easy access especially with gloves. The fobs can't be removed but are attached to the zipper by a cow hitch so they could be technically removed if wished. Also ran a heavy 20lbs rifle on it with an add on molle strap on the right side of the pack and holds up very well. A small note that the straps can be detach but doesn't stow away.
TL;DR
Pros: 24.2 L is great for such a small pack. Super Comfy and very well made
Cons: Bottle Pocket is inconvenient and doesn't allow main compartment to open all the way.

Better than the Condor by maxpedetion

This backpack has become my all time favorite.
It is not as well built as the Maxpedetion Condor, but it makes up for it in reduced weight, and better design.
What I love about this Pack, is that the main compartment opens fully, so you can lay it down and open it like a duffle bag, getting into it fully.
I can't stand bags that force you to get in it from the top, it reduces organization, and ease of access.
With the SOG Ninja, I can fit documents in folders; tons of them, socks, handkerchiefs, a Msr miniwoeks ex water filter, a collapsible baton, sub hilt fighter knife by cold steel, XL Espada by cold steel, boonie cap, and bug net. and three cotton shirts.
Still has room for odds and ends; purification tablets etc.
Emergency Tourniquet in mesh pocket, small blow out kit in the other.
And that's just the main compartment.
Not even counting the top and front.
The SOG Ninja destroys the Maxpedetion Condor I was using, it just gives way way better organization.
It's lighter, smaller, and yet it holds more and holds it better because of the design.
I still would not go as rough on the SOG due to it not being made as well as the Maxpedetion.
But I'd still use this over the Condor, because of the above.
You can't go wrong with this pack.
It stands up straight without drooping, and lays on it's back uniform which enables it to be used like a duffel bag or range bag.
Full access to the inside.
Pack it with clothing and everything stays in place even when upright.
Really well thought out pack.
Nothing useless on it.
The side water bottle holder also holds my 32 oz Nalgene with zero issue.
Though you'd be better off with a Gatoraid bottle; holds the same amount of water but is lighter.
