First, people need to realize this is not coffee and therefore is not going to taste like Folders or Maxwell House. This is a "Coffee Substitute" and a dang fine one at that. Beyond Coffee does have a very similar taste to coffee. It is dark, thick (than say tea), and has a nice nutty like flavor. It is made from USDA certified organic roast chicory, barley, and rye. I use a lose leaf tea strainer to make it (steep for a minute or two). At the end of the day, Beyond Coffee is a very delicious and healthy coffee-like beverage without the caffeine and acidity from coffee.

Anyone who thinks this tastes like coffee either has a poor sense of taste or needs to buy a different brand of coffee. I didn't actually care if it tasted like coffee, though, because I never really liked coffee. I just want a hot breakfast drink that tastes good. This doesn't.

TRY THIS RECIPE: 75% roasted chicory, 25% beyond coffee, two tbs maple syrup, creamer, cinnamon, optional vanilla. It taste like liquid cake. Soo good. I didn't like this stuff at first. Roasted chicory is way closer to coffee. This taste like cereal. BUT I figured out later to play around with different sugars and you can really add the body back into the cup that this brew is missing. Try brown sugar, molasses, just play around with different sugars and creamers. However I would still recommend straight chicory for the ex coffee lover.

This is supposed to work in the percolator and doesn't. I put the recommended amount in the percolator. Later, I discovered that the Beyond Coffee was dry and had not been moistened. It does work in a teapot. This stuff is well flavored, but has a cereal like consistency when it gets wet. It requires a kind of "soaking" as when tea is made. I was very disappointed that it didn't work in the percolator.
