Does the trick with modifications

I recently bought a Smith Corona electric typewriter from the thrift store. These ribbon reels were way too big. Instead of returning it, I did what another person had suggested, I wrapped the ribbon around the old reels and secured the ends with a small piece of scotch tape. It worked perfectly.
