I purchased this to make bibimbap. When I first got it, the size of the container made me wonder if it would be years before I could ever use the whole thing up. Then I actually used it to make bibimbap sauce and realized I will probably get through one container of this in six months, maybe less. Sorry Frank's Red Hot, I'm going to be putting bibimbap sauce on all of my eggs now. It's so delicious and so simple to make using Gochujang.

I don't know why I go through gochujang so easily when I have it. But when I don't, I barely need it. I love this smokey flavor. It's not spicy and not too savory. It has a flavor I can't describe. I love it to put in my kimchi fried rice, soups, stews, marinades..ugh so good.
This is a great addition to your seasoning arsenal.

Not ridiculous spicy. Definitely not the red pepper sauce for volcano sushi but great on saute pork and saute chicken. Not as good on wings maybe thinned as marinade would be better for wings. This is a paste that will cling to an overturned spoon.

Really glad I bought this after reading about Korean chili pastes on one of the popular food sites. I've added it to so many things, like spaghetti sauces, sandwich spreads, scrambled eggs, marinades... It brings a dimension beyond just heat that's hard to describe - it's like smoky and savory, with depth. Because it's a thick, gluey paste, you have to take the extra step of diluting it before you add it to you recipe, but it's worth it.
