This is an update...I have now owned these for less than a year. They are no longer usable. The plastic slide "stop" randomly falls out. I have replaced it 3 times. A few days ago i was measuring something just under 8" and when I opened the calipers up to accomodate I butted up to the stop (gently) and of course it popped out and I didnt notice until the next time I opened the calipers and everything slid apart. Now, of course I can put it back together and replace the stop again. But I'm done. Mitutoyo used to be decent quality for a decent price. But the quality has gone down and the price has stayed the same. The days of being able to keep your machinist tools for decades is apparently coming to an end.

These seem to be very well made. I haven't really used them a lot yet but the few times that I have I have found them to be very accurate.
