Waste of Money
Michelle S.November 27, 2017
I had to order this junk twice. For some reason, I never got the first one, but I'm not sure if maybe it got lost or thrown out with a much bigger Amazon box, so I let that slide and ordered a second. My iMac recognizes it, but throws an error: "USB Accessories Disabled: Unplug the accessory using too much ower to re-enable the USB devices." I am going to try some kind of hub with its own power source.
USB Power alarm and Unrecognized. DOA
WeegieBNovember 23, 2017
DOA Unfortunately did not work. Upon connection i got an alarm the my USB power was exceeded and the devise was not recognized.
i am trying to connect a high end cannon EOS 1Ds camera to a laptop. The camera has firewire and no USB support.
Cannot be certain if the power alarm is due to a faulty adapter or the USB spec limitations. I have only had this problem once before and it was a defective component.
Waste Of Time

Well, I was warned by earlier reviews. This simply doesn't work! Using a Mac, when it is plugged in I get a warning that USB is overloaded and shut down. When I remove this the USB comes back up. I was simply trying to use an old firewire thumb drive. Too much hassle to send back. Don't buy!

Update: Customer service is pretty good. They noted my negative review - asked some questions - noted that the device doesn't support a "drive" (note I was using a thumb drive). They did give me a refund and the USB port on my Mac was not destroyed - so, no loss to me.
I don't think you can actually do a USB to Firewire convert like this shows

No didn't work for me. I don't think you can actually do a USB to Firewire convert like this shows. It will not work on Windows computer, you are warned.

going from an unused firewire port to useable usb.... it didn't work for me, likely because of too many converters needed.
