I don't see how anything else would come close for the money. It's really just so well made. Other slicers I looked at seemed a lot cheaper material wise than this one but not any cheaper on the price. My last slicer lasted over 20 years. Can't imagine this one won't last me the rest of my life.

I have used the $100 - $150 meat slicers for years but have always wanted one liked I used when I worked in a meat department at a local grocery store when I was a in college, but did not want to spend $1000 plus for a slicer that was to heavy for me to easily carry down from the attic where we store it. This slicer is exactly what I have been looking for. It slices thin cuts consistently time after time without having to reset the thickness, a problem I have had with slicers in the past. It is an excellent value for the money.
