power switch is nice
J. H.✓ Verified Purchase•July 29, 2023
I purchased this mainly because it has an on/off switch. I have a couple friends that *think* they burned up a USB port in their laptops by powering cooling pads. NOT any particular brand, just that they think the port was never intended to deliver constant power to such a device. I elected to utilize an old wall charger and purchase an long cable to power the pad from a wall outlet. It works great, and I need not worry about my laptop. (This may simply be an unfounded concern on my part but I would rather not take the chance. Note this would be a function of amperage, not voltage since the voltage on a USB port is standard. Milli-amp output may vary.)
Something of note, between the time I purchased mine, and I recommended this to a friend, the design has changed. In mine, there are two USB ports and the power switch centered in the back. The one my friend got has one USB and the on/off switch on the right side near the back. Hers is already giving her trouble due to cable strain. (Off the left would have been better for her. In my case, coming off the middle back, I used some tape to create strain relief right away and it has been fine. Both hers and mine are the blue LED version and the pics reflects the new USB/switch location on the side. The red LED version still shows the rear USB/switch location.
Fan noise is minimal and for my needs, it does a great job of keeping things cool. I am not a gamer so I cannot speak to heavy gaming use. The LED is not annoying as I thought it might be. You really don't see it when in use and I find it helpful to know it is on or off. It is stiff enough that I don't really get flexing, so no worries there. This cooler is serving duty with a small HP Spectre computer with a best of everything build. It used to get to warm for my comfort and this works as I hoped.
If you are going to use this with a wall outlet, I might suggest some kind of strain relief for the cable right away. I'm using tape. Otherwise, pulling on the plug will eventually result in a failure as noted with the one my friend has.
If TEKNET is reading this, a couple small holes in either end of the back to put a small Ty-Rap through would really be a nice addition. (To address the strain relief I mention.) Also, a power cable protruding off the back seems more practical for sitting on someones lap than a cord protruding off the side IMHO.

Sleek & Effective

This cooling pad has good fans and ventilation slots with a mesh surface underneath your device for better airflow to keep it cool. That helps to ensure your laptop continues to work to its full potential and can even increase the machine's longevity. I learned the hard way in the past with my Asus laptop that died a little after a year, that a cooling pad and cleaning your laptop with compress air will increase it's lifespan dramatically.
I easily use it with Dell G16 gaming laptop but the size of this cooling pad makes it compatible with a wide array of laptops. It effectively prevents heat buildup in intense gaming with twin the 110 mm fans (RGB lights). The thin build and lightweight construction fits nicely on my lap and is very portable, having manual control on fan RPM speed is nice also.
You're not just getting an affordable pad, as the TECKNET will raise your laptop slightly for better posture and has two pegs to keep it from sliding off. Don't worry about your machine fitting on the stand either, as it's made for devices up to 16 inches. Overall an outstanding product which is rare with all of sub-par laptop coolers being offered here.

4 years in and it still works

Bought this stand / fan 4 years ago and its just now starting to show age (after working 24/7 for YEARS). Was searching for a replacement but I think i'll jut get this again. Hard to fuss about a fan that worked almost nonstop for 4 years needing to be replaced.
DISAPPOINTED! But Great Customer Service

Does it work? Yes. It moves a lot of air for sure. However, I have all kinds of gear in my recording studio that have fans . . QUIET fans. Like, you would hardly know the fans are even running. The fans on this item are FAR from quiet. As a matter of fact, they are annoyingly audible. Sounds like I have a mini fridge constantly running under my laptop. This is going straight back to Amazon.
**UPDATE** I sent an email to the vendor and they responded right away. They offered a full refund and told me to keep the stand to use without the fans if I wanted. Since the stand itself does provide for better circulation and heat dissipation underneath than the laptop sitting directly on a desk or my lap, I chose to accept their offer. They also stated that they would forward my dislike of the fan noise to the design team to see about the possibilities of fixing the issue with quieter fans. I told them to let me know if they come up with an improvement, as I would like to purchase an updated version. We'll see what happens. They also sent me a follow-up message to confirm that I received my refund, which I had received. All-in-all, great customer service, so I am hoping they upgrade the fans, even if it means a price increase.

Great basic cooling pad

I got this to use with my MSI Pulse 15 B13VGK-287US, which I'm really happy with - except for the way it overheats really easily while gaming, and has extremely loud internal fans! This laptop pad does a better job of cooling than the internal fans do, and is very quiet. It isn't silent, but I was actually very impressed by how quiet it is. Another reviewer pointed out that the fans are located right where most laptop exhaust vents are located - depending on how your laptop chassis is laid out, it's likely going to be more efficient/effective than other products with five fans distributed equally. I would agree with that.
Structurally, the pad is sturdy lightweight plastic, which is nice - it doesn't add a ton of weight to my laptop bag and feels comfortable on my lap. It's plug and play. I do wish that the usb port was located on the back rather than on the side, it would be nice to be able to choose which side I'm plugging it in from.
If you're looking for something basic and affordable that gets the job done, I highly recommend this laptop cooling pad.
