Taste & Price game not strong

The intention of this purchase was to find a vegetarian protein shake w/ probiotics . Previously I had ON Hydro...whatever it's called chocolate flavor. It was a good protein shake but sometimes I got stomach aches after I took it if I hadn't worked out prior.
I saw the high rating for this so I checked it out. What drew me to it was the fact that Pure Food put a probiotic in their mix. My stomach is sensitive in general so I was stoked. There really wasn't much else I found on Amazon so I picked this one.
When I got it I was a bit bummed at how small the package was when I paid 40 bones for it. Then I looked at the back and saw that it only had 10 grams of protein per serving (1 scoop). Really guys? C'mon! That's what grinds my gears is that now I have to use double of this expensive product.
The taste ain't great. In fact it ain't even good. It tastes like chalk or recycled cardboard. Just bland and ack. That first time I tasted it, I made a shake with 2 scoops of the powder so I could get a decent amount of protein, 1/2 cup of Lactaid (milk without the lactose)(tastes like real milk), half of a banana, a handful of spinach and 4 oz of water to add more liquid.
Dude, that shake was not even good. Yes, my blender is a piece of crap and the big leafs of unblended spinach didn't help, but damn. This was bad. I added freakin' milk, guys! It's supposed to taste good. But it was terrible. I had negative thoughts about it for a few days after. A positive was I didn't have a stomach ache after. No gas, no subtle sensitivity, no nothing.
Tonight I'm chillen and not feeling like making dinner but I need to get closer to my protein goal - not even close to reaching at this point but oh well. So I put 2 scoops of the chocolate Pure Food protein powder in probably 10 oz of water and just get my drink on. Now, I'm not gonna lie - I don't hate it. Wow. The flavor is still bland and not great in least but I feel more chill drinking it. Meaning when I drank my prior protein powder, I'd get super excited about drinking it. When I drank it I would almost crave it. That in and of itself is perplexing. I suppose it's from the sugar in the prior powder and whatever else they put in there. Pure Food's powder is headed in the right direction with the intent of this product. It is healthy like for real healthy. It's nice not to have a craving for something else or something more after you've already consumed something. I've been wanting to cut back on sugar - actually more along the lines of needing to cut back on sugar, but have been struggling. Sometimes I would look forward to working out bc I got a yummy protein shake after. With this powder I don't feel that way. It's nice not having emotions towards your food especially when it relates to sugar and not so great carbs. This product didn't alter my mood nor irritate my stomach. My stomach and I are content, but not with the dang price. I will look elsewhere Pure Food, but you're alright.

This is my new favorite protein powder
MB✓ Verified Purchase•June 19, 2023
This is my new favorite protein powder! When I first came across it, I was in awe that a) there are only 7 ingredients; b) all ingredients are organic; c) consists of several different types of protein, which all serve different purposes; and most importantly d) it's a HEALTHY vegan protein powder. I also really like that this protein powder doesn't contain added artificial sugars or fruit/vegetable powders because that allows me to use fresh fruits/veggies, which are sweet in and of themselves. I agree with other reviewers that the Raw Cacao flavor is such a treat (I haven't tried the Vanilla quite yet), and like a lot of people, I'm an immense chocolate lover. I love that I can take advantage of the antioxidants in the RC, and the flavor is very exact. A lot of the chocolate protein powders I've tried are very gritty or don't mix well with fruit/veggie smoothies, which I make almost every single day. I throw in 2 scoops of the PF Raw Cacao in my smoothies, and it blends in very effortlessly - there is no strange aftertaste or strange taste at all for that matter. I haven't tried this with water alone (only water, fruits, and veggies), but I use unsweetened cashew milk, and it's great. I think I'm going to try it with hazelnut milk next, based on one of the reviews. The cacao flavor I've found is also very true to an authentic chocolate taste. For example, if I mix it with strawberries, it tastes like chocolate-covered strawberries. If I mix it with bananas, it tastes like I'm having a banana split. Best of all, I was surprised that this kept me full for as long as it did because with protein shakes, I'm usually hungry again within 30-60 minutes with your conventional protein powder. I have a shake and then just kind of forget about my next meal, which is very rare. Kudos to Scott, the PF owner, for a wonderful product. Will definitely be repurchasing.
Totally Switched to Pure Food's Plant Protein

I have totally switched from Beachbody's Shakeology to Pure Food's Plant Protein. I drank Shakeology pretty much daily for the past eight years. After seeing a comparison with Pure Food's Plant Proteins, I decided to give them a try. Not only is Pure Food's Plant Protein much healthier for me, it is a third the price of Shakeology and keeps me feeling fuller for much longer. I never plan to go back to Shakeology. Thank you, Pure Food! I am so happy with your products.
Has a wonderful aroma and tastes good. Has helped my digestion more than any other food.

The first thing I noticed when I opened my first container of this product is the wonderful aroma. It smells like freshly-prepared snickerdoodle cookie dough. The stuff is very thick and very hard to mix into even skim milk, but the flavor from the organic mesquite is so good, I scoop out and eat with a spoon all of the powder that I can't stir into the milk. (It's really good.)
I am also impressed by how there are truly only 8 ingredients (including the probiotic). No gums of any kind added, period.
I tried out this vegan protein powder from Pure Foods primarily because I have 100% lactose intolerance and also don't care much for soy.
This product also had the surprising, major benefit of helping make my digestion the most regular it's ever been in my life. The particular probiotic in this product has, Bacillus coagulans, has worked for me far better than even the excellent probiotics in the Lifeway kefir that I drink a few times per week.
(Kefir has definitely helped improve my digestion over the years, probably because it's helping me recover from multiple years of antibiotics I took when I was a teenager with severe acne a couple decades ago. But in just a day or two of starting the Pure Foods Vegan Protein Powder, my digestion had improved by more than the kefir and other yogurts and probiotic capsules had been able to do in more than two decades.)
The only improvement I can think of that Pure Foods could do with this product is allow purchase of larger quantities at once.
That would allow the price-per-oz of protein powder to go down if ordered in bulk.
Unfortunately, as much as I love this product, I cannot sustainably afford it at the current price-per-oz of an individual small 18-oz container.
Once Pure Foods starts offering the ability to purchase significantly larger containers, and/or a case of containers, and the price is then able to scale down to close to ~$1.00 per 20g serving of protein, then I will be able to afford to continue purchasing this product.
I'll then buy it by the case full. Sign me up!

Holy Grail of Plant Based Protein Powder
N. P. DeGreet✓ Verified Purchase•April 17, 2023
If you are reading this, either you (1) care about what you put into your body and/or (2) are an enemy of death and/or (3) are a fan of The Smiths 1985 release and/or (4) are looking for a pre-Fall diet (see Genesis 1:29-30). Whatever the case, you may cease your quest for plant-based protein powder because you have found the holy grail of that genre.
To prove it, let's compare "Amazon's Choice" for plant-based protein powder, Orgain, with Pure Food:
Servings: Pure Food, 16 --- Orgain, 20
Grams per: Pure Food, 32 --- Orgain, 46
Calories: Pure Food, 119 --- Orgain, 150
Fat: Pure Food, 1g --- Orgain, 4g
Carb: Pure Food, 6g --- Orgain, 13g
Protein Pure Food, 20g --- Orgain, 21g
For basically the same amount of protein, Orgain is much higher in calories, fat and carbs. Why? Orgain's powder is filled with, well, fillers: erythritol, dextrins, gums, inulin. Seriously? Now the fascists at the FDA have given these items the blessed status of GRAS (generally recognized as safe), but even if they are "safe," you do not want or need them in your body (and by the way, not all of these are "safe" for all people - just check out the relationship between inulin and folks with IBS. Whatever, FDA).
Anyway, Pure Food is just that ***PURE***: seven whole, organic super foods + probiotics (no fillers, no GMO, no soy, no dairy, no death).
Now some reviewers have mentioned price. Price per serving is less than a plain, "Venti," cup of coffee at Starbucks (read: reasonable).
Others have lamented the taste, but friends, if you prepare it properly, the taste is fab (we love caramelized onions, right? Yet not many of us just pick up an onion and eat it like an apple. Same thing here.) In our house (including my capricious teenage children), we simply add (a) two cups of vanilla almond milk or coconut water and (b) two medium-sized bananas to (c) one scoop of the powder with (d) an handful of ice, and blend. Done. Thick, luxurious, guilt-free, death-free, sapidity - and there is your word for the day too :-p
Finally, in purchasing this product you will also be supporting an American-owned, small business and thus providing common ground for Gary Johnson, Bernie Sanders and (gasp) Trump voters (and please do not hate, we all need to establish common ground or we are not going to make it the next four years.)
(and, no, I am not a friend or relative of anyone who works for Pure Food, we are just simply fans.)
