Ingenious Colander: It Let's Water Drain Out!!
Jessethelawyer•March 1, 2018
This is the epitome of a colander.
It's shaped like a bowl, pretty much, but it has handles.
The awesome thing is it has all these little holes so when you pour water in it, to drain pasta or spray wash vegetables, all the water just pours right out!! So, you're left with just the stuff that was in the water, but without the water because this little holes just let all the water drain away. Really incredible.
I definitely recommend using it in a sink, or in the shower, or at least outside: If you don't, it will probably get water everywhere.
I've used it once and so far it has not broken. I think that's great. I also washed it after I used it, and nothing bad happened to it when I hand washed it with a scrubby sponge and some Dial dish soap -- I used hot water.
The seller has been really nice and stayed in touch, I feel like they care. In fact, they wrote just about the day this device arrived, asking me to review it. I'm so glad I could share my positive experiences with this amazing, brilliantly designed colander.

Good Product

I have been using this colander for a couple of months now. It is great. It is easy to clean, and I can put it in the dishwasher when really dirty. I can strain my pasta without too many issues; I use it mainly for straining spaghetti and macaroni. I have not had anything "slip" through the small holes, but can see that tiny pasta or beans could slip through. Overall, it is a good product and I would recommend it.
My only gripe is the base: Although the base has two holes in it, I have to pour the hot water slowly from the pot through the colander to allow the water to go down the drain, or it collects around the base. Alternatively, I need to use something else to elevate the colander above the drain so the water can escape. I would recommend more holes would be drilled/pressed in the base.
Regarding comments about the handle being sharp: I can understand this, as when the handles were "polished", the grinder apparently was at an angle, making the bottom edge a bit sharp. My handles are not bad; but if they were, simply using a Dremel tool with the proper attachment would be perfect to grind the edge down.

Extremely well designed and top quality make this a "best buy"...

I tend to avoid writing any positive reviews unless I come across what I consider an outstanding product... and, this is one of those extremely well designed and very well made products worth using as the "go to" item in my kitchen or yours. The inside of the bowl area is very smooth, so food should slide out easily on this slippery surface. I'm sure this can NOT be used to rinse, wash, or strain some kinds of uncooked grains or small sized rice, as these might get stuck in the holes or pass through it. But, it should catch and strain most kinds of cooked grains and rice that will swell-up in size from "water cooking", and it fits well inside my double sink that is 14" x 15" inches on each side. One tip might be to order this as your only item for shipping, so it will come inside its own box alone and not risk getting dented by another item inside.
#1 In Design, Construction & Features!

Very good construction! Sturdy design. Holes are small enough to keep even the smallest things from escaping, with the possible exception of the tiniest rice grains. Smooth with no burrs at the holes. I especially like the strong, riveted handles versus ones with weak spot welds.
The size is great, and can handle most draining jobs with one load. The width of the flat handles makes them easy to grip and, of course, they prevent fingers from touching hot contents! The base ring keeps it stable in the sink. That ring has two large drain holes so liquid won't get trapped and back up inside it, and will fit nicely around most sink drains.
There are a couple other 5 quart micro-perforated colanders on Amazon for $1 or $2 less, but they lack the riveted flat handles and bottom ring drain holes. Don't be fooled! For $1 or $2 more you will be a very happy camper.
Truthfully, I can see no reason why this shouldn't last a lifetime with normal care. I highly recommend this fine colander!!

Product lived up to the other 5 star reviews I read, quality product at a good price.

I was skeptical, and didn't think it would really be as good as many of the reviews seemed to imply it would be for the price, but It came packaged very well, seems very well made, robust material, strong and well attached handles, drains well. I made the mistake of placing it directly over the center of my sinks drain, so it didn't drain as well as it could the first time I used it due to the center ring base, but just place if offset the center so the water can fully go down your main drain, problem solved. It is very light, and I think it will make an excellent fruit bowl when not being used, it seems a waste to hide it away in a cupboard, it is so shiny. I'm going to hold on to my old plastic colander for a bit, but I forsee it shortly being given away/gotten rid of. Time will tell how well it holds up, I have some stainless steel knives that obviously are inferior quality as they have small rust spots, that you don't get on the higher quality knives, but I have a good feeling about this. Maybe it could use some more round holes in the ring base to help speed up non-offset water draining, but I'm not sure if that would decrease its sturdiness, in any event a minor nit to pick, perhaps they could update in the future if possible. If I start seeing micro rust spots, I will update my review. Until then 5+ stars!
