Growing my first avocado seed with this. It takes a while, but with a little persistance it pays off. I did a bit of an experiment and this is definitely a lot faster than the toothpick method. I would suggest skinning the avocado for best results, but if the skin is difficult to remove, soak it in water first. If you leave the skin on, the chances it will mold are high. Takes a few months, but be patient!

Patience is a must, but these little guys make it well worth the wait. I started with 3 pits from grocery store avocados and, after 5 months of all three floating in their little AvoSeedo boats in a large bowl of water, I now have one with a gnarly root system and an avocado stalk about 14" tall with several pretty leaves. One other pit has a massive root but no stalk (yet) and the third pit got me nothing. But I am thrilled with the two successful starts and as soon as can get them into soil, I plan to start more. Mine have been in the same location the entire time, on a shelf near a SW facing window so they get lots of sunshine but are protected from direct sunlight.
I just ordered one for my granddaughter because I think this would be fun for kids. It will definitely help teach them patience!

So far so good (on the 2nd round). The seed is growing but I will warn you, if you live in Arizona, DO NOT put the seed and water outside! My husband decided to do that with our 1st try and unfortunately, the seed burned!! Keep it indoors until it actually can be planted and be ok outside!

This clever little item is currently floating an avocado seed in a glass container. My granddaughter wanted to grow an avocado tree. It is so far doing its job, although it's too soon to know if it will ultimately cause the seed to sprout. It's fun watching.The AvoSeedo arrived promptly, well packaged, and in good condition. I've tried the toothpick system of growing avocado trees, but it is very time-intensive; you have to watch the water level so closely. Hoping this will be easier.

I bought this for my husband who always try's to grow avacados with toothpicks holding it up and a styrofoam cup. I hated seeing those things on my kitchen window sill. This is perfect for him, this is so much better than the crappy toothpicks and cup. I did find it a little expensive however which is why it has 4 stars instead of 5. 10 bucks is just a little pricey to grow a seed.
