One needle did break (they aren't fantastic, but I have used worse), but the thread itself is outstanding, and my expectations as far as the 'free needle with purchase of thread' are fairly low. In their defense, I was sewing three layers of leather and nylon and needed either pliers or a steel thimble to pull\push through the materials when I managed to break it. Another of the needles saw the job through the second 2/3 of the way, so: Not terrible, but not great.

Short form: Wonderful thread, serviceable needles. Would use this brand again without hesitation, and recommend the thread without hesitation. If you have ample\better upholstery needles, buy just the thread; If you don't then get the kit.

This kit will allow fixes deemed impossible before this kit was available. I bought it to repair athletic shoes, that had one large tear in each shoe mesh. Every other attempt at repairing those shoes failed miserably, lasting sometimes just a few hours before the strain of walking would cause the thread to break. I repaired a shirt as well. When one factors the cost of having to replace, rather than fix, this kit more than pays for itself.

I never knew there was such a thing as an Upholstery Repair Kit until I searched online for a way to fix an underwire bikini top that had a wire popping out. I'm a guy, I don't own a sewing machine and the junky sewing kits I've purchased during the occasional emergency just can't stand up to the heavy duty fabric of a bathing suit. I purchased this kit with the thread and heavy duty needles, and was able to sew around the underwire on my girlfriend's bra. The true test was we went swimming for hours and she didn't complain once about the underwire popping out. This stuff is magic, and really handy to keep around. The thread is pretty thick and will not break from tension like regular thread would.

Ordered this set for a leather couch that we got discounted with a clean open seam. I was excited to see that the needles are singer (did not read the description before) and that the thread is definitely a good quality extra strength thread. I used the regular upholstery needle on the leather and it worked like a charm. Still super sharp after, too! Thread worked extremely well, no pills, no rips. Needle didn't have issues getting trough the material and didn't threaten to break once. Definitely recommend!!

i did break 1 needle (probably user error) but it worked great - i fixed an 8 inch rip in the seam of a leather sofa and this worked perfectly - the curved needle - great little tool for the hard to reach areas.
