We had already created a central post support out of chainlink pipe parts to support netting (netting that is intended to keep truck loads from blowing around) a few years ago. Our above ground pool is 18'. The 20' x 20' Sun Shade Sail was easy to put up, using our existing central support and attaching the 4 corners to trees and our garage roof line. During the first week of it's installation it has already survived two tornado watches and heavy rains. The Sun Shade Sail lived up to it's name and sailed (literally) through all of the bad weather! It is still in our original position, ready to shade our swimmers when the sunshine returns to Florida.

wind torn it up after 2 months had rips all in it. not water proof rain came thu it day one. will never waste money on it again. john 3 16 in the bible.

UPDATE: We have used this shade for three summers and will again this summer.. We take it down during the winter months. We were late Thanksgiving 2019 (the second use) when we left town for the extended weekend and over 4" of unexpected snow fell the day we were returning. When we arrived home, the structure had caved in from the weight of the snow. The weight was so great it snapped one of the 4x4 post in two. I expected to find the shade unusable again.

Not the case! When we unburied the shade, it was undamaged. The 1/4" cable underneath (see 2018 review below) helped save the shade by taking the post first. However, there was still a lot of stress on the shade.

We used the shade again last summer from April to Sept. I'm preparing to put it up again for the coming summer months and marvel that we are getting four harsh seasons from this shade. It's expensive but worth the price. In our case, it's a great value.

2018: Nice sized shade to cover two cars. Arrived as promised and appears to be well-made. Good price for its quality and size. We used cable stretched diagonally from corner to corner (to support the middle underneath). It isn't rectangular so we are relying on the sewed-in metal hoop on each corner to support the shade.

Our support cables extend far past the size of the shade, so we used cable brackets to add a short length of cable (8-10") to each end of the diagonal cable to connect the shade with an S hook. As the shade stretched, we could slide the short cable back along the support cable to reach the right spot for the shade to be taut. Sometimes, to get the last hook attached, we would tie strong rope to the S hook to pull it to the loop where another person was ready to connect it. Also, with S-hooks, we can easily remove the shade in minutes in case of strong winds or severe weather.

This works perfect and works great at providing shade for our grandson to play on our patio when he is not swimming in our pool!

Love my sail, was a little disappointed that upon opening it there was a flaw in one area where the thread was pulled and unravelling. We had a gathering and couldn't wait for an exchange or return to come in, I needed to out it up as is. Probably should have just exchanged it, because now after looking closer, after having it up for about a week, the defect that was about 6 inches is now about 10 inches. I probably won't get as much life out of it as I would without the flaw. Just be cautious when getting yours, inspect and exchange if it's not right. Great quality and does exactly what it says it will do.
