Instead of the sling type [around the neck strap] the hospital issued after surgery that was cutting into my husbands neck, we ordered this sling which increased my husbands comfort level tremendously. Great sling!

It was a bit big, even after measuring, so a lot of strap cutting was involved, but this sling is AMAZING for taking strain off your neck! Just be warned...the strap in your armpit is absolutely going to need washing... A LOT.

I have had multiple surgeries requiring a sling & they were all HORRIBLE. I always felt like I was choking & my neck was irritated. Well, that was then, this is now!

I had surgery a week ago & was given the same garbage as the hospitals always give out. I immediately started searching & found this. I thought the price was outrageous & it really is but I couldn't deal with wearing the other thing for over 6 weeks. Well, I went ahead & bought this & I must admit it's much more comfortable. It's a bit cumbersome but it does the job & my doctor really liked it a lot. He also agreed it was a bit pricey but he does have a lot of patients with the same complaints. He said he was going to recommend it to his patients but isn't sure they would be willing to spend that much money.
So,my bottom line is that I no longer have the patience to deal with the annoying scratching on my neck. This is a very well designed sling & a whole lot more comfortable than any other's I have used so I figure it's worth the money to avoid dealing with the discomfort. If you can afford it, I do recommend it.

UPDATE: While overall I still really like this I have found that some of the velcro straps (especially around the waist area bunch up a lot & make it very uncomfortable. For the price they are charging for this they really need to find a better method of securing the waist area.

When I broke my forearm at the hospital Emergency Dept. they took good care of me. They provided me with a sling for my broken forearm in the cast that goes up 4" above my elbow.
After a couple days I developed an excruciating pain in my neck and my upper back from the weight of my arm and cast pulling my body forward.
I got another sling at the local Pharmacy, hoping it would be an improvement. No avail, it was somewhat better, but not much.
I decided to search on Amazon for a better supporting sling.
Thankfully I came across this product, and upon receiving it I started to wear it immediately.
All my pain disappeared within a couple days. This sling worth every pennies I paid for it.
It provides great support for the arm, and the excellent design ( the additional hip pad) evenly distributes the weight, eliminating the pain in my neck and upper back.
Most importantly it helps with my healing, by stabilizing my arm and giving protection as well.
I strongly recommend this product, especially to those who will have an extended period in the cast, due to complication.

I recently had a major Total Reverse Right Shoulder Replacement Surgery and, fortunately, it was an overwhelming success! My biggest complaint was that the sling provided by the hospital was poorly designed, placing all the weight and pull of my hanging arm on the base of my neck. Awful! I was constantly tugging on it and even tried numerous seatbelt pads & other items to cushion the pressure point. Each day, after numerous hours of the sling hanging on my neck, I was really very uncomfortable and at my wits end! I was thrilled when I discovered this sling and even happier when it arrived. I am a 5'11" male and, after reading other reviews about size, I opted for a size large which turned out to be perfect! The design of this sling is wonderful, adjusting the weight to my shoulder rather than my neck. It is easily a 1000% improvement over what I had & was, without ANY doubt, well worth the cost! Do yourself a favor and minimize any additional discomfort & frustration caused by a poorly designed sling. This Don Joy Ultra Sling IV surely did the trick for me! No regrets what-so-ever!
