I had purchased, last year, a 16gpm pump for my home made log splitter only it's powered by a 12 hp B&S that work great together.
I decided to purchase another 16 gpm for my second prototype splitter only this one is powered be a 6.5 horsepowered Honda. Allthough the description clearly states that it needs at least an 8.5 hp engine to run. On the first try the ram extended with a slight jerk action it was so powerful the round I split actually exploded into 3 pieces. The ram,2 directional would not and will not retract. It's stuck in the open position. I spoke with 3 mfg reps with three different products I'm using on the 2nd prototype. Ruggedmade gave me the most time, very knowledgeable and pointed out I need a larger engine or an 11 gpm gear pump. I ordered the 11 gpm today and hopefully it's the lack of power and not the ram sticking. The 16gpm gear pump will be used at a later date with a harbor freight cheap 8.5 hp engine or possibly an Amazon provided engine for my third splitter.
