This foot switch is built heavy duty, like a tank. I am pretty sure I would have to seriously abuse it to break it. I use it on a meat grinder for a one person operation. It does exactly what it is suppose to do and has a very positive engagement so you don't have to press down with overwhelming force to use it. I would recommend 100%.

Tell me if this isn't genius! My favorite, old, high mileage, light weight power miter saw (B&D 1703) has a switch that works intermittently. That's an indication that the switch is ready to fail. Since replacement switches aren't available for this old saw, I purchased this momentary floor switch, which is the same switch I purchased at a carpentry show and that I use for my router table. The instructions prove that this great country has too many lawyers; they warn that "It should be installed by a qualified electrician." Since I was feeling reckless when I received this today, I plugged it into an outlet WITHOUT hiring an electrician. Oooooooh! Then, step two, I plugged my saw into the "piggyback" plug of this foot switch, double checking that I was not immersed in 3 feet of saltwater. Now, my favorite power miter saw has a new lease on life, and with a floor switch it is as convenient as ever. Now I'm thinking of getting one for my table saw!

I debated whether a foot switch was worth the cost, but after using it for ~1 year, I would never use a router without one - it allows me to use both hands to feed the work (or hold the router) without removing one to turn the motor on and off, which I view as a crucial safety feature, as well as reducing mistakes during cuts.
This particular product is quite rugged and well built (in the USA), and the cable is a good length, so I can place it where I want it.
I find it slides around a bit more than I'd like, so I will likely add a grippy pad to the bottom, and I'd prefer it was a bit shorter, so my foot would stay closer to flat on the floor.
