standard mono to stereo 3.5mm adapter solves PRO-95 issue!
Will Westfall•January 10, 2018
I originally purchased this for another scanner, with the intention of using it on my older PRO-95 handheld as well. As many others have noted the adapter that is supposed to make the cable work with the PRO-95 was completely worthless. Did not work. I happened to have a 3.5mm Mono to Stereo adapter I used with the scanner so I could listen with external speakers. I tried it, figuring why not! And it worked! So, for those of you who still have this cable, and are unable to get the PRO-95 to work with it, I suggest you try a standard adapter plug, not the adapter that came with the cable. I am using the very ancient Win95 Software to program the scanner, but I have been able to both send and receive data from the scanner on my older Windows 7 PC with no issues.
Geniune FTDI!
Becca n Walt •December 30, 2017
It is nice having a geniune FTDI chip where it is simply plug and play. It worked first try out of the box just like an older interface it replaced for my scanners. Unfortunately, I'm unable to use it with my Icom radios and HRD.

Despite what the description said, this cable does not work with the Radio Shack Pro 96 scanner. Based off of other reviews, it does not work with many other Radio Shack scanners either. I was able to make an adapter to get it to work - as said in previous reviews, this cable does not have the correct pin out to allow sending data to the scanner. Save your money and purchase the correct one from radio shack.
Doesn't not properly function - cannot upload to scanner
Scaryman•June 15, 2017
If your thinking of buying this cable for the 20-564 Radio Shack pro 97 scanner...Don't. You can only download from the scanner not upload TO the scanner. Yes, I tried troubleshooting this and its not wroth the trouble.
High quality cable
