Vibration/Noise Solution
William 2.May 3, 2017
Excellent concept. No way noise or vibrations can escape this bracket.
Should have bought these the first time.

I should have just bought these in the first place but I cheaped out and ended up paying more in the long run. I have a few older 1TB/2TB drives that are use for various backups etc in some machines that had some additional space in the 5.25" drive slots. Some of the drives created a decent about of vibrations which could prematurely cause a drive to fail (not to mention incredibly annoying) These were just what I needed. They have 6 rubber stand-offs that act as shock absorbers/cushions for the drive eliminating any noise it creates by vibrating against the case.

I did read a few reviews saying they were not easy to install but I installed these over several different cases and here is my take on it. The product itself is extremely easy to install and work with to mount your drive in. Your case however may make this task a total nightmare depending on its layout and mounting options inside. I had several Antec, Coolermaster, HP and Dell systems that these were used in. The Dell ones had brackets that just did not want to play nice with these (initially -- I got them to work) but the rest worked flawlessly without problems. I even used these on a couple of older hot swappable drive sleds/racks and they fit as well.

The screws that were provided however ended up in the trash. Very cheap not a fan of them. I stripped the head of one without any effort so I opted not to use them. -1 star for the screws it comes with.
Almost perfect.

But almost is the keyword here!

It comes with wrong set of screws: It should come with one small-threaded set of screws for mounting this to the case, and a larger-threaded set of screws for mounting the HDD to this. Instead, it came with two sets of small-threaded screws, making it impossible to mount your HDD to this. I am glad I had some extra such larger-threaded screws.

The holes outside of this for mounting this to the case are not drilled at the correct position (they are too high), making it impossible to mount this to the case (see the pictures). Keep in mind that my case has shelves. If your case has flat sides, you're probably (most likely) fine.

So, you cannot mount your HDD to this, and you cannot mount this to your case. Then why am I giving it 4 stars?

As I said, using the extra set of screws I had, I mounted my HDD to this. Then, I just left this on one of the 5.25-bay shelves, without securing it using any screws. I expected it to make noise, since it wasn't properly mounted onto the case, and as HDD vibrated during operation, I thought this itself would cause noise due to rattling/vibrating between this and the case.

But I was wrong! It has almost completely decoupled the HDD, making it as quiet as it may ever practically be. Very well engineered decoupler design.

Only if it came with the correct set of screws, and it had the correct-height screw holes outside for mounting it to the case...
Exactly what I've been looking for.

Solid metal construction, high density rubber standoffs. Can't see it well in the pictures, but there are actually 6 blue rubber standoffs, the 4 that elevate the drive and one on each side in the middle that keep it centered. Very easy to assemble, easy to change drives if needed.

It's important to note is that the drive is 100% suspended in rubber, zero metal-to-metal contact, including screws. This makes for an absolutely silent mount.

I don't know if I got a newer version than the others who had trouble with the rubber mounts, but they sort of "snap-in" to their holes and then don't move easily, just make sure they're tight before you mount and you'll be fine.

I removed the two metal plates and screwed them into the drive, then slid the drive into one side's mounts, adjusted the two middle mounts, then bent the last two side mounts to slide them in.
Works well

It works. I have one hdd that likes to vibrate quite a bit and makes a lot of case noise. This solved that.

However, I found the rubber mounts to be awkward to install. They kept wanting to pop out. Hence the 4-star rating.
