Compartments are wide enough, but not deep enough for G-Shock size watches. I am able to tighten my watch straps to the point of absolutely crushing the supplied pillows, literally to the point of splitting, to get them to sit low enough inside the box to allow the lid to close.

This is a really nice looking display case, which I am presently using and it was reasonably priced. However, the felt watch holders are very poorly put together and I feel that the will not last too long, which is a shame, as the outside of the box is well built. I also think that the opening/locking mechanism is a little small and fiddly, but it does the job.
