I was sure it wouldn't work. SO sure that I went ahead and purchased some plastic pin-on furniture protectors to cover the ends of my new sofa.
Every morning when I sit to drink my coffee my demon...I mean, my CAT...comes and claws the sofa. My brand new sofa. I had a sofa cover on it, but took it off to wash and then thought 'why am I covering my beautiful sofa with an ugly cover?' But having already had one sofa destroyed by Mr. Murder Mittens, I wasn't about to let him have free reign with this one.
Day 1: Spritz the spray along the bottom and ends where he scratches. Pleasantly surprised at the light, slightly floral, scent that dissipates quickly. Cat walks over, stares at sofa, then goes over to furiously scratch his scratching pad.
Day 2: Spritz. Cat comes and stares. Stalks away to his scratching pad.
Day 3: Spritz. Cat comes over. Finds that I have not spritzed along the top of the sofa and tries scratching there. Is lovingly dissuaded. I spritz that part as well. Success.
Days 4-whatever: Cat continues to not scratch sofa. I revel in my ability to enjoy actually SEEING the upholstery that we picked out, instead of a slipcover. I put the plastic end covers in a closet, we do noit need them.
Week...3? 4?: This continues to work. I have found that after time I don't need to spritz every day, the habit to scratch the sofa is not as ingrained, or the scent still lingers a day or two...I'm not sure which. But I find that I can skip a day or two. I DO have to spray every part that I don't want scratched, if he finds an unsprayed spot he will glare at me and then start clawing. I would say that I've been using this for about a month and the bottle still has a bit left in it. Is it a bit pricey for about a month's worth of use? Maybe...until you consider the value of an intact couch and the increase in love you will have for your cat when he isn't destroying your furniture. I hope this never, ever stops working because it has allowed me to co-exist with our cat on much better terms.

I sprayed this product in my cat's carrier for our 10-hour flight. He is a super nervous cat and this product made our travels a lot easier than usual. I will forever usee this product when we have to travel or go to the vet!
It worked, a little too well

I've held off writing a review because I wanted to be sure things were working. We added a six month old kitten to our house in December and while all three of the other cats got along with him just fine, within 24 hours he had started urinating on my bed. He did not have a medical reason for this behavior and since we got him from a rescue at an older age (his siblings had been adopted months prior) I thought maybe this behavior was what was preventing him from getting a home. I did not want to return him to the rescue, this seemed to be his only issue and while gross, it was confined to the one area. I ordered this spray as well as the diffuser and while waiting for it to arrive we kept him out of any bedrooms. I also picked up an additional litter box and put him in it periodically throughout the day to remind him of where it was at. When my items arrived I plugged in the diffuser and sprayed the bed and then waited. Three of my cats, including the kitten, avoided the area immediately after it was sprayed. The marking stopped completely. The fourth cat, a slightly off center, anti-social, neurotic mess of a cat that doesn't really like anyone and spends his days hiding under the bed...he loved it. I mean like LOVED it. He would jump up on the bed as soon as he saw me heading for the spray and roll around where I'd sprayed. Then he started being really friendly with the dogs to the point of annoyance. Then he got super, super, over the top "friendly" with our one female cat. To be clear, everybody is spayed or neutered in this house. This was sort of an unexpected side effect of the product. It's been six months and I'm thrilled that the marking has stopped. I'm not really sure what to do with the fourth cat other than rename him Joey and try to shoo him off when he sidles up to our female all "How you doin'?". We did buy more of the diffusers and plan on keeping them going for at least a while longer. I haven't needed to use the spray after the first bottle got emptied. I think Joey is slightly disappointed.
Cat-not-so-fancy.

I have an older feral cat. She has mellowed out a bit over the years, however she will occasionally go into wacko mode (as cats are prone to do).
I spray the product in and around a cat tree (as needed) and after a few minutes all is well.

I guess this is effective. The first few times that I used it was to get my cats used to being in their new carrier for flights and they meowed a little bit and then the subsequent times, they meowed quite a bit but not excessively. Fortunately, they did not make a peep in the airport or on the plane. Thank God! I would've been so embarrassed lol. Anyway who knows if it had much to do with this product or just how they felt? Cats are very temperamental. Either way, I will continue to use it for our trips just in case it is actually doing what it's supposed to.
