Don't get the cheaper one, this is the best for the money
MidnightRunner✓ Verified Purchase•August 20, 2018
For the money this cannot be beat. I bought the cheaper version which does not have as well defined jaws and although it worked, it was more difficult to use. I get good crimps from this just about every time unless I screw something up. It has a good range of gauges also. The only thing I would like to see is different sets of jaws for sale since I would like to use it for other types of connectors without buying the tool again.
Does a good crimp and it is very low priced

Does a good crimp and it is very low priced. So I gotta give it 5 stars. But if you are doing anything but a crimp here and there a "Real" crimp tool is better, and MUCH more expensive. I have a drawer full of other crimpers, some expense to the tune of pushing $1K. What the other have are more complicated terminal stops and wire stop mechanisms. These are critical if you put the tool in the hands of a less experienced user. I just needed a few prototype crimps for a 2mm JST connector and it will do that. But be real careful and have extra terminals for when you mess up.
If I end up doing very many I will have it done outside or get a "Real" pro level tool.

High quality tool

Bought these for DuPont connectors (Futuba servo connectors) and JST-XH connectors and they work excellent. All of the research I had done said to get the SN-28B crimpers. Well I tried those and I'm here to tell you these work better. Nice quality tool for sure. I have a feeling they will last many years.

Impressed by the quality of the set I received, the anvils mate spectacularly compared to other <$50 crimpers I have seen. Given the size of the connectors it is designed for it is hard to imagine these needing replacement given the quality of construction.
Doesn't work very well with Molex KK 254 terminals
Jeff in CA✓ Verified Purchase•January 16, 2018
This crimp tool is listed as suitable for the Molex KK254 terminals (Molex p/n 08-50-0114). But it's not really good for those. The die is not wide enough to encompass both the wire and insulation sections of the terminal at the same time. So either you get a good crimp on the insulation or on the wire, but not both. So then you have to shift the terminal and crimp again. This often results in the terminal being bent or otherwise deformed so it won't slide easily into the Molex housing. (Example: Molex housing p/n 22-01-3027)
I gave it 4 stars because it's a really nice tool. It's slick. The ratchet and everything work really well. It's just not suitable for the KK 254 terminals. I returned it. I'm still in need of a crimper
that works with those.
