The anesthesia team wound up giving me some of this so that could follow the ERAS protocol. They let me drink one at midnight and again 4 hours before surgery. I drank the extras I bought here after surgery since it says it aids in recovery. I will ask for the ERAS protocol in future surgeries, but if my physicians do not agree, this will definitely be the last thing I drink before my fasting period.

I used this because it was recommended by a friend before surgery. I think it really helped, I'm usually a very difficult person to start IVs on and the nurses got it on the first try! That was worth it right there, also my anesthesiologist said that was a great idea and that he has heard good things about the product. I had a 10 am procedure so hunger wasn't really an issue, but I didn't feel hungry and my recovery went so well the doctor said I could go home when he was planning on keep me overnight. I would definitely recommend this product, also taste good (make sure It s refrigerated). I can't say for sure if the clearfast helped with these things, but things sure did to seem to go more smooth (I've had 7 surgeries), not all went as well, nausea, hunger, headaches, etc.

I read where anesthesiologists are starting to have patients drink this before surgery. I read the literature and thought it sounded like a good idea to try, even though my hospital didn't use it. I was having bariatric surgery, and drank one before bed, and had a large swallow the morning of surgery with my meds.
My recovery was perfect. no nausea, no vomiting (first time ever) and I felt great overall. I dont know how much of that is due to this, but it definitely didn't hurt my recovery. I would use it again if having another surgery.
