It's a BEAST!
Haranguer!✓ Verified Purchase•February 17, 2024
This trimmer is a BEAST! It has plenty of power for cutting through thick weeds and lawn grasses. It is best to cut at right angles to vines, since they tend to get caught in the small gap between the spool and the area above it, and stall the motor until the vine is removed, usually by just pulling it out. If the vine is too tightly embedded, the spool must be removed to free up the embedded vine--an annoying little task with any trimmer. The length adjustment feature is a desirable thing not found on all trimmers. This one will satisfy all users except perhaps midgets and NBA centers. I use the trimmer continuously for about half an hour for standard residential lawn work. with no need to recharge the battery. The only significant thing I would like to see improved is the instructions for assembly, and especially the illustrations provided there, which in places are hard to interpret.
The illustration in Amazon makes the trimmer look spindly, which it most assuredly is not. It is robustly constructed of sturdy materials In summary, a much deserved 5-star rating from a highly satisfied user!

This is the best light weight easy to use.
Very convenient for small projects, but limited power + battery life

This battery-powered trimmer has all the upsides and downsides you might expect: it's small, lightweight, and convenient, but has limited battery life (30-45 mins, depending on the power setting) and limited power (I prefer the high power setting for thick grass). If you're using it to edge your lawn or for limited projects (I would estimate 500 sq ft or less), it should be perfectly ready for the job.
I used it to trim my whole front yard; I wouldn't recommend it for this use, but it did an admirable job considering it's battery-powered and affordable.
I would recommend acquiring additional batteries if you plan to use the trimmer for more than edging your lawn; the battery, as noted above, has a limited life, and it takes most of a day to charge (probably 8-12 hrs in my experience). Fortunately, the trimmer is compatible with any other 20V Lithium batteries you might happen to have; I borrowed the battery from my electric drill and it worked perfectly, albeit with a shorter duration (but that's only to be expected from a years-old, plentifully-used battery like mine!). New batteries from B&D are a little expensive, in my opinion, but I imagine you could easily find them used for a good price, if you're so inclined, since most B&D battery-powered products use this type of battery.

Excellent/User Friendly Trimmer

My neighbor recently convinced me to purchase this trimmer. For the past 9 yrs I've been using a Husqvarna 4cycle trimmer which is very powerful and has performed great. But I needed a trimmer that could be used to form a nice demarcation between the concrete and grass"¦and also around flower beds. I would have to tilt my Husqvarna to achieve this but due to it's design it would leave a "sloped" edge. This Black and Decker performs beautifully. The built-in wheel makes all the difference in the world as well as the ability to tilt the trimmers head (by turning the handle). The wheel helps stabilize the trimmer so that you can get a nice, neat edge and it even does very well around curves. It's also much lighter than my other trimmer"¦very easy on the upper body. I have only used it once (today) but was so impressed I wanted to write this review. My neighbor has had his for years and it's still going strong"¦.so I'm not to worried about durability. If you need a trimmer for cutting down really tall grass or saplings, then a heavier duty model (like my Husqvarna) is probably what you should purchase. But for normal use, this trimmer will be just fine. I may even purchase an extra one just as a back up in case this model is ever discontinued (hopefully not). One more thing"¦it would be a good idea to go ahead and get an extra battery as back up. Hope this review helps.
