Monitor DOA, But Vendor Replaced and Camera/Monitor Now Works Good

I received this monitor kit promptly after ordering and it was well packaged. The two included mounts (windshield and dash) are a nice touch. I installed it using a cigarette lighter powered wiring kit (bought separately) to avoid splicing into my truck wiring, and that worked very well. Upon powering it up, it appeared that the monitor was dead - I verified that using an old TV with the same style video input plug, and got a good image on the TV, so the camera was working fine. After several e-mails with the vendor they agreed to send a new monitor. The new monitor was sent from China, so it took almost four weeks to arrive (hence the four versus five stars). I just installed the new monitor and it gives a nice image, as expected. So except for the delay associated with obtaining a new monitor, I am pleased with this purchase at this very reasonable price.
Extra sharp monitor

This is a great backup system. The monitor is very sharp. At least it's much sharper than the one we had installed through our mirror by Car Toys. We were surprised at the clarity. There were two separate mounts so we had a choice and ended up using the suction cup and placing it above the mirror.
The only thing we think would have been better would have been to have longer wires included with it. We have a truck and had to be a little creative getting it put where we wanted it. We bought two barrels and an extra RCA video cord. Very nice product.

Took about 2 hours to install on 2000 Pathfinder. Hid all the wiring and tied into backup lights so camera only works when in reverse. Also tied LCD screen into spare fuse to have fusible link and to power LCD only when car is running. Clear picture and after some adjusting of camera angle alignment seems good with green marker being approximately 5 feet away and yellow being approximately 2.5 feet away and red being should have stopped. After seeing other family members interested in putting on their vehicles.

This is the second of these I've purchased. The first went on a 2006 Dodge Durango, and this one on a 2012 Hundai Sonata. Both work great! Installation was straight forward once I figured out that I should cut off the red wire lead on the video cable. I hard-wired the monitor to the Sonata's fuse block, and used a discarded plug to connect to the Durango's cigar lighter socket for power. With 4 grandkids roaming around, having these cameras on our vehicles makes sense. Plus they're so inexpensive compared to other units in the stores -- I figure I saved about $100 per car. I'm very happy!

**Update 8/15/17** after 3 months the replacement monitor has died and show's a white screen. I have to do as I did before and unplug and plug back in to get it to work. lowering review to 3 stars.
Monitor only works part of the time. Hoping to have a resolution soon. I have to unplug the power and plug it back in to get the monitor to come on.
After receiving a replacement monitor the kit works perfect now!
