Suprisingly Loud
Lindee Weaver Ryan Reusser✓ Verified Purchase•December 18, 2023
i was shocked how loud it is. i had a set of speakers set aside to help but I almost jumped out of my chair. I scared my roommate. Volume 13 is loud enough for half the house to hear it. I like that is buttons are a bit stiff, so my show cant be interrupted by an accidental bump. its 'feet' are taller than I thought they would be too and it really helps with heating issues.
I bought it for next to my desk to play movies while I work and its perfect.

This was an impulse buy, but it far exceeded expectations. Our old car had headrest DVD players and my daughter loved watching her collection of Disney films on it during road trips. When we bought our Tesla it has no option for rear seat entertainment.
Our daughter occasionally brought along an old laptop to watch movies, but it was cumbersome, heavy and she would get 1 movie from a charge if she was lucky. So we had to use an inverter and the bulky laptop charger for longer trips.
I saw this a few weeks ago and decided to go for it and give it a try. What a difference! We've had it for about a week now and I can't imagine not having it. When you find an impulse buy and suddenly realize that you needed it long ago, that's a win in my book.
Here's a quick overview and I did some testing (I'm a mechanical engineer, couldn't help myself) using scenarios that is everyday people can relate to.
Stability test: I popped in A Bug's Life and gently shook the DVD player. No reaction. I then did some large swinging motions, again no reaction. I then grabbed it tight with both hands and shook it VIOLENTLY, somehow no reaction whatsoever.
Scratched disc test:I took a movie she didn't like (water horse on DVD rw) and repeatedly played it after rubbing it against a tile floor. It continue to play until it looked like the attached photo. I popped it into a laptop and it didn't even recognize the disc.
Audio test: I played a movie at full volume in the backseat, and since the cars electric there's no point in doing a driving test as it's nearly silent. I did, however, use the car radio to try and drown it out. By the time it was difficult to hear the movie the stereo system was a bit louder than we typically use. The headphones are a different story. Using a pair of Sony noise cancelling headphones I plugged a cord in and sat back. You only need to have the volume at level 3 to hear it clearly in a noisy environment. There's no Bluetooth so you would have to use a dongle if you want to avoid cords.
I didn't get time to fully test the battery life, but she can watch 2 DVD movies while wearing headphones without issue. I imagine if you use a USB stick or SD card you could get 4+ hours of screen time.
Pros:
The stability is otherworldly. I would like to disassemble it to see how they have achieved this level of shock resistance. It still hasn't skipped once except during the scratch test.
It's light, like SHOCKINGLY light. (750 grams) Hard to believe there's a battery in it at all, much less one that lasts for hours.
The swivel screen is a nice touch and makes it so easy for her to hold.
They included a nice assortment of cables and a 12v charger cord.
The video quality is very good, it's not full HD but neither are DVDS. A Bug's Life never looked better!
Cons:
Nothing really. I don't know what you could complain about for $50.

Easy enough for 6 yr old to use

I was leery at first because it was so lightweight, but after using it, I love it! Purchased for when power goes out, it won't use lots of battery power. My 6 yr old figured it out without instruction, that says it all.
well made and durable
