We have a lot of twin beds in our house and several children who are bed wetters. I have been gradually buying these until I can cover all our mattresses plus have extra, and replace all our old "plastic-y" covers. I have been using this type of fabric in making cloth diapers for 12 years now. When I first started making diapers, the fabric was very hard to come by--we either had to import it or order from only one company in the US. I joined online co-ops to order the fabric so that we could get the cost down to a reasonable amount. I remember thinking way back then how nice it would be to have mattress covers made from that fabric. So I'm glad to see that it is finally spreading across the markets. The fabric is soft, not crunchy, and it will hold up well at least for a few years (we're not washing them multiple times per week like we were washing diapers, but we do need to wash them regularly). Unlike plastic covers, which rip easily, this fabric is a thin layer of polyurethane that is laminated onto a polyester knit fabric. It stretches and moves together like one piece. The sides are deep and the elastic is great so that it is easy to stretch and fit around the mattress. I love how thin this is and how easy it is to take care of. Also--they work perfectly! The price is unbelievable.
Great for Purple Mattress

We recently purchased a Purple mattress and in order to maintain the warranty, you must use a mattress protector to prevent stains on the mattress but they also suggest using sheets and protectors that are stretchy in order for you to enjoy the benefits of the mattress.
They sell a protector but it's $70, on backorder for a few weeks, and they don'y offer a return policy on it.
Based on other reviews, the Weekender seemed to be a good choice for Purple mattresses.
It is way cheaper than most of the other options offered, is very stretchy, not noisy, it arrived at my house the next day thanks to Prime, and I can return it for free if I am unhappy with it.
As soon as this arrived, I ran to the sink and turned the faucet on over it and the water didn't soak through!
I highly suggest you consider this to protect your investment

A Little Insurance

My wife and I recently bought a new memory foam mattress. The top layer is filled with a gel designed to diffuse heat to prevent over-heating. We wanted a cover to protect our expensive new mattress, but it had to be thin so it wouldn't come between us and the gel. This protector is so thin that we can read the print on the top of our mattress, but it should be a good barrier against accidental stains. I tested its waterproof-ness by placing it over a bucket and pushing it down to create a pocket. Then I poured in a cup of water and let it set for about five minutes. Not one drop fell through. We've slept on it for a week now and haven't noticed the crinkling noises some reviewers have mentioned. This may be because our mattress has soft cotton cloth on top. Our old coil mattress had a heavy synthetic cover; and it wouldn't surprise me if this protector would make a noise against that type of cloth. There was a slight chemical smell when I took it out of the dryer, but we haven't noticed anything when we are in bed.
I should note that we don't have pets or health problems that might require more protection. Also, we don't expect to be washing the cover more than a couple of times a year. Depending on your circumstances, this cover may not be heavy or durable enough for you. But if all you are looking for is a little insurance for your expensive new mattress, this should do the trick.

Good value for the price

This fit on my older model twin bed perfectly and my two and a half year old grandson never noticed a difference when I put it on. It didn't make any noise when he rolled around on it. It was put on in the nick of time as he woke the next morning and had a leaky diaper. It was wet on the surface of the protector, but it was totally dry on the underside and the mattress. It washed up well and I dried it on low heat. Good value for the price, especially if it saves the mattress from getting wet!
Just what we needed.
