If not for the buldging ridge in front, it would be perfect!
Oxana S✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 18, 2023
This hat would have been perfect if not for the seam in front. The fleece lining has buldging seam in front as if you have some weird rib going on in the center of your head. I had never seen that lining had 2 seams: in the back and in front. Well, this hat has it. You would not feel it (unless you are very sensitive) but it surely is visible is a ridge going from the middle of your forehead to the top of your head. Is it a deal breaker? Not really. As the hat is a good size, warm, and the wool is of good quality. But it just does not make sense and is annoying. Especially, if not for this buldging ridge, the hat would be PERFECT.
Stop a Roomful of Strangers!

If you are a person whose tendency is to lead by example; if you are one who is not fearful of others' opinions, you -- in fact -- hoping to sway, rather than to BE swayed; if you are a person who is not afraid to "Stop a Roomful of Strangers" when you enter it, you will visit and re-visit White Swan's "Slub" (earflap) hat that has been handcrafted by the good women of Nepal. It will intrigue you. The asking is extremely modest, most especially when you see the high quality offered! (That it is green in color is a misprint.)

This cap's appeal lies in the surprising and the unique. Set into the masterfully-knit black background, four horizontal, elevated "stitch-knit" rows show off the rowdy and colorful "offspring" of previously-spent yarn. Tiny, thread-bits ("Slubs") -- arms and elbows -- wave akimbo. Their colors are vociferous. The design is spectacular! You will adore this hat!

MY hat size? Dependent on who is asking, I wear a size seven, which (so obviously???) translates into 22 inches -- a skoesch more if pinning my loudmouth curls into place -- or 56 centimeters, if ordering hats from Europe. (Poland specifically.)

In that I had purchased a lovely Peruvian Alpaca hat (earflaps), with its design honoring its heritage -- a loosey knit and unlined cap that itched and slid forward covering my eyes -- I was concerned about the "Slub's" hat size. I shot off an email of inquiry (through Amazon's Message Center) to White Swan, I expressing my worries. I included my telephone number in the event that someone just might have further questions. Within five minutes, my telephone rang, and the warmest, most congenial and concerned customer service representative's voice reassured me that she would do her utmost to accommodate my wishes, even going to the extent of measuring the hat, (now dubbed "Slubby"), in hopes that my fears of being blindfolded by a cap would be allayed.

"Of course," she stated helpfully, " If by chance this hat DOES turn out to be an uncomfortable fit, feel free to return it for a full refund."

Talk about magical service in this day of computerized "famiiarity!" A REAL heartbeat was intent on providing a potential client with every reason to do business with the company for whom she worked! My respect for the "American Ideal" was resuscitated!

This Nepalese hat outshines even itself when measuring craftmanship. The colors of the skinny, loose-thread, "arms and elbows" waving are brilliant, the black setting off the wildflower colors, with the "slubs'" outspoken hues, in turn, enhancing the black. As to the size? I would swear that one of those Nepalese ladies, who knits to send her children to school, tailor-made this "Slub" hat for me. Its fit embraces, but not tightly. The front does not dip down to one' eyebrows, the design of its curve hoping to enhance features while warming them. To add to my element of pleasure, the cap is indeed lined. No itching. My delight knows no limits.

White Swan offers hats that provide smooth, warm and riotous comfort that will "Stop a Roomful of Strangers" when you enter. Their envy will be peaked.

I appreciate your time. Laugh at everything that you take too seriously!

Stay well!

I love this hat. Now, I am a very small woman, but I have a huge head and a LOT of hair, so the hat fit a bit snugly. I didn't mind this, because the snugger it fits, the more heat it can hold in, and the wool and fleece lining come together to keep your head and ears really warm. I've taken it winter hiking and once ice climbing and it really delivered on both comfort and warmth. It looks exactly as pictured.

I bought the blue and white.
I love this. Very high quality. (Measurements.)

I got the "brown blue" in XL. The cap looks just like the product photos. The knitting is perfect. The inner liner is soft , blocks wind, and covers the entire interior. You can tie it under your chin with a single loop and it stays, you don't have to knot it. --- My head measures 23 3/4" just above the ears. It fits close/slightly snug, and has to expand just a little to fit my head. There's room for it to expand more, but I think it might start feeling tight. --- The tag says Outer: 100% Wool; Inner 100% Polyester; Hand wash separately in cold water; Made in Nepal. --- Highly recommended.
