Great option for long runs
Todd Jenkins✓ Verified Purchase•August 5, 2018
I have been using gels and decided to give this a try. I have used it on several 20+ mile hot and humid trail runs with great success. You don't have to time your intake like with gels and the electrolytes seem to work well. I mixed 2 scoops for every 24 oz of water and the taste was light, slightly sweet, and salty. I did find that after about 2.5 hours I was really craving just water and have started to carry a small bottle of plain water to refresh my mouth. I have had no stomach issues at all, but I have not had any with gels either, so that was never a problem I was trying to solve. Overall I am very satisfied with this product and plan to continue to use it along with other nutrition on long runs and bike rides. So far I have only used pre-mixed refill bottles as my routes usually take me near my car every 5 to 10 miles and I have not tried taking the powder and mixing at other water stops, but it mixes well at home and I expect it would do the same on the go.
The Holy Grail of Endurance Energy Drinks
John K.✓ Verified Purchase•July 30, 2018
I started using tailwind nutrition last year in training for endurance cycling races - The Leadville Race Series events. I've used the Berry, Raspberry Buzz (caffeine), Lemon, and Mandarin Orange flavors. They are all very subtle in flavor which is an advantage since stronger flavors over longer events tend to be hard to ingest.
Each scoop is exactly 100 calories so it makes it easy to calculate your target calories per bottle. Just to give you an idea, I'm 5'10" and weigh 155 lbs. I use 3 scoop (300 calories) in a 22-24 oz bottle. During several 100+ mile race I consumed 1 bottle per hour. One race took me 9 1/2 hours (9+ bottles) and the other 6 1/2 hours (6+ bottles). I had no issues consuming the energy drink which has been an issue with other products. In a 50 mile race, I had 300 calories again in each bottle and I consumed 5 1/2 bottles in a 5 1/2 hour race. I had NO solid foods or gels - just tailwind nutrition. I had personal best times in all races. I did not have to stop and go to the bathroom at all. I finished each race surprisingly very strong and fresh. So I have my formula worked out. I would start with at least 2 scoop and work your way up until you hit the right amount for you. There is nothing else I will use in training or racing now.

A godsend for cramping!
Mark S.✓ Verified Purchase•January 6, 2018
This stuff is a godsend for electrolyte balance. I'm an avid runner and would regularly get cramps in my legs and abdominal muscles after tough training, and especially races. I've been using this for months now and have had zero cramps! No more waking up in the middle of the night holding my hamstring, or bending over and having an abdominal muscle lock up on me. When I say zero issues I mean zero.
I have cramped after using Gu gels, so Tailwind is definitely doing something better with their mix. I was originally planning on just buying the raw ingredients and making my own endurance fuel, but I don't think I can match this.

No gut bombs!!
Jennifer Moran✓ Verified Purchase•December 30, 2017
I have been using this product for over one year now during all my runs. It has held me up through anything from training runs, marathons, and various ultras. I placed 4th in the Leadville 100 run in 2017 using primarily Tailwind. It never gives me gut bombs, and it is a really easy way to get calories in when you don't feel like eating real food. The individual packets are great to throw into a pack and open nicely to put into water bottles while running. The powder dissolves quite nicely- I use two scoops to one 20 oz water bottle during races and I never have clumps in the water. It seems to work great in both room temperature or cold water. I cannot recommend this product enough!! Purchasing the variety pack is a great first step- you can experiment with the caffeine infused flavors, as well as the other non caffeine flavors.
Must have for Ultra Runners and Endurance Athletes
Mike V.✓ Verified Purchase•October 18, 2017
A must have for ultra runners and other endurance athletes. I used to get bad "gut bombs" with gels and other "bars" but this worked wonders. I did a 50K just on this and it rocked for cals and electros....!
