These socks are about the same weight as running socks, which is exactly what I was looking for. You can wear the socks on either foot, as they are made sort of like a tube sock, but it seems to me you would want to wear them so the V- Toe logo is on the outside of your leg. In that sense, there is a definite right and left sock. 😊 The first picture would be the left sock with the logo on the outside. The second picture would be a picture of the right foot sock. As you can see, there is a definite smaller place for the big toe, and a larger space for the other four. I would have given 5 Stars if there had been a definite heel. The tube sock type thing makes a wrinkle on front of the ankle, which I don't like. Overall, I'm happy with these. Sorry about all the dog hair on them already, V-Toe! 😂😂😂

I can only compare these to one other brand of tabi socks which weren't purchased from Amazon. Those were all cotton and ankle height. They of course shrunk somewhat and the fit just wasn't as good afterwards. I also, even though it's the Japanese tradition, didn't care for the anklet type of sock either. I'm a human popsicle and a longer length is more to my preference. The fact that these weren't all cotton AND were a crew length sock enticed me to give Japanese style socks another try which I liked to wear with my flip flops and bedroom thongs on cool spring and summer days and nights. These turned out to be well made with just the right amount of cotton and stretch without them leaving constricting bands around my legs. They are thin though not sheer and soft and fit my foot well. I wear a size 7 1/2 and take a AA width and a AAA heel in a well fitting shoe. A size that once upon a time, you could actually find in finer department stores but have now been swapped out for standard B widths. (One size does not fit all. Who dreamed up this clothing insanity anyway??)

The only thing I wasn't expecting was the "V" logo on the side of each sock. I can see it now as I'm writing this review but I didn't see it at the time I was ordering so that's my mistake. Nevertheless, though I would have preferred not to have this logo, the quality and fit is such that I plan on keeping them anyway. If these three pair launder well I plan on ordering three more pair come summer as they are really comfortable and appear to be well made.

Finally, Tabi I love!

I've been looking for socks to wear around the house during our frosty Miami winters. We have no carpeting, all tile floors and it can get brisk on your feet during December & January. These are thick enough to keep my feet warm and I can wear them with shoes or my flaps. (I call them flaps because they do not make the noise "flip-flop" only "flap-flap-flap") Other pairs hover just above the ankle. These go half-way up my calf and stay. Good tabi.

Some reviews complain they are too tight in the calf. To help with fitting, I am 6' and 175#. My calf is 15" and I am a bit wiry. I can see where others with body-builder calves may find them tight. Also, if you don't like or didn't notice the white "V" on the side, there's always a sharpie.

They're thick enough to be comfortable and keep my toes from overlapping. They have great stretch. I wish they had a crew sock (not an ankle sock)...a crew height sock

I had been having knee problems, so needed to wear sandals. These socks are great, I will definitely buy more. Soft, wear well and calf high. I have had compliments on how fab they look.
