I had never heard nor known that a product like this existed until I hopped on Amazon and thought of buying a small pack of the insertable collar stays to replace ones that have been lost, bent, etc. When I saw this, I was a little wary but after reading the reviews decided to give one a try.

Based on a consensus from reading many other reviews, I ordered one in white (as I generally wear light-colored shirts), opting a 1/2 size small (going with 17" instead of 17.5").

On it's arrival, I immediately went to the restroom and put it in - I did not do as I should have in terms of reviewing any instructions or watching the video - and was blown away. My collar went from collapsed and flat to upright and firm, as if it were basically brand new! It only took a light folding of the arms to adjust the height, and a very mild bend inward to better conform to my neckline. Once that was done, perfect.

Set in, it is fully invisible. I do think that going the 1/2 size smaller is the right thing to do. While it might not be absolutely necessary in that the 'correct' size would have worked just fine, saving that 1/4" on either side gives just enough extra extension of the collar by the button that any very minor movement over the course of the day would not expose the end, and I can't see where it is sacrificing its ability in any way to do its job.

I haven't had it terribly long, but have adjusted the arms a few times to match with different shirts of differing collar heights, and have had no issues. The device itself, while metal, is coated with a very soft, felt-like material as well, so is very, very unlikely to cause any damage to fine threaded shirts; it also serves well to provide a little 'grip' to keep it in place.

I have since ordered and received the same in black, and have been using them daily. These are not cheap solutions, but... they also aren't cheap solutions. They work extremely well, produced with quality, and well worth the investment. This is one of those items that actually performs every bit as well as advertised.

I seldom write reviews where there is literally nothing to the negative side, and am personally skeptical when I see such reviews, so do want to make it clear that this is based on my experience after purchasing these items with wholly my own funds.

It does what it's supposed to do. In the past, I have gone as far as reinforcing the underside of collars on favorite shirts with heavy canvas using no-sew hem tape. That's definitely effective and permanent without having to cut into the collars and insert anything, but also too labor intensive for me to do for every shirt.
I was very aware that I had this on the first couple times I wore it. My collars looked great, but I was overly concerned that it would be visible, either due to shifting or maybe the shape showing through the collar. When I realized neither of those things were happening, I got pretty comfortable with it and don't even notice it any more except when I look in the mirror and see how awesome my collar looks!
It works for most of my shirts. Ideally, your collar needs to have at least a little structure of it's own for this to support it properly. It worked on all of my button down shirts, some polo-style shirts, but not on a couple softer collared polo style shirts. I probably just need to get rid of those shirts, anyway...
I got this a couple sizes smaller than my actual collar measurement to make sure the ends wouldn't show. The ends sit about an inch in from the front edge of the collar on either side. They don't show no matter how I move, and it still holds my collars perfectly fine.

crap.. its tack welded and not well.. to it broke after 2 months

This has renewed the look of my old polos! I had a lot of dry fit polos and after several washes the collar was limp. Now it's popped up like new. My only advice to anyone seeking this product is to buy about an inch larger then your neck size. I'm a 16.5 neck and the ends of the product fall short of the polo collar by about 1 inch on both sides. Love this item. I know it's expensive for what it it but it's worth it when your polos and button ups have a nice collar that last all day.

Love this color stay thing. Make my shirt looked awesome. Every man needs to have one of these. I wear a 15 1/2 collar shirt and I ordered a 15 1/2 collar stay. It was a 1/4" too long. So I ordered a second one 15" and it was perfect. I don't mind having 2
