I liked it a lot but ended up giving it away about the second time we had a bad weather system come through and it woke me up in the middle of the night, (and I'm sure the people who live upstairs as well) with an alarm that sounded between an air raid alarm and a tornado siren. It is definitely loud enough you cannot sleep through it, but doesn't do a whole lot of good if it causes a heart attack. The kids I gave it to like it and they agree it is loud, but they find that aspect funny. They are young enough to be my grandchildren.

Been 6 months now since giving this out (2) Christmas gifts. My son's both commented how much they enjoy listening to scanner at night. Got online and printed off police/fire codes so when they say, 12-4 all is good or code 3 lights and sirens. They love the Uniden Scanners when power goes out, scanner also has battery back up so you don't lose the frequency numbers

This unit replaced another Uniden Bearcat scanner that my wife gifted me 30 plus years ago that had only 16 channels but worked well during that time. This new scanner has many more bells and whistles that I'm discovering every day. The instructions are a little wonky at first but gets easier as you go along. And for around $100, you can't beat it.
