Excellent

I used this to turn a trash barrel into a rain barrel. It worked great! I heated the end with a propane torch and then let it melt through the heavy duty plastic. Cleaned the threads put the washer back on, and it held water immediately, still doing so weeks later, I would buy again.
Great quality. Would have given 4 stars

Great quality. Would have given 4 stars, but the lip on the male and female piece is just barely big enough to get a seal. It would be better if those were 1/4" larger in diameter.
Built to last

Perfect fit and solid. Bought for my rain water collection system and they are just the thing I needed. These will outlast my barrels!
A product that you can love!

Works like a charm, well built, no fuss.
I *strongly* suggest that you buy this one: go brass, pay the extra few cents and don't buy the cheap plastic ones. Your wisdom will be rewarded!
Note: This is not a lead free product, it's OK for irrigation but it should not be used for drinking water.
The inside (ID) is bigger than it looks on the picture, and it's a good thing. There is more flow ;-) I have 3 barrels in line and I was a bit worried about the flow between them when there is a downpour.
The OD of the tread is 26.3 mm / 1.03" , so you can use a 1" spade and finish with a file. Recommended is 1 1/8"
The only thing I did differently was instead of dropping the the bulkhead into the barrel and then go trying fishing it, I used a bit of irrigation polytubing : It allows to make the whole process faster. The ID of the bulkhead fits perfectly, and you just bring the bulkhead directly to the hole. see picture.

Works great

This is great for turning any barrel into a rain barrel. A standard garden hose or valve fits the thread. A tip for avoiding a hole saw: remove the O-ring, heat the brass part on the stove, and use it to melt a hole in the plastic barrel. I did this and got a nice tight fit as a result. Make sure you don't overheat so it burns the plastic.
